Gagarin's Lesson held in Kolkata
On 12 April 2022, 61 years after the first human space flight, performed by a Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, a presentation on him was held by the Institute of Russian language, Russian House in Kolkata.
The session began with a brief talk on significance of the International Day of Human Space Flight, April 12th, and the celebration of the Cosmonautics Day in Russia by the director of the Institute of Russian language Ms Madhabi Bhattacharya. It was followed by an illustrative presentation by a student of the Russian language course, Ishita Sinha, on life of Yuri Gagarin and on the starting points of the space era.
The session concluded with recitation of poems by the students: "Звезды высокие" (Sergey Yesenin) - read by Natasha Ghose, "Млечный Путь" (Rimma Aldonina) read by Tanusree Chatterjee, "In loving memory of Yuri Gagarin"- read and composed by Jagari Mukherjee, "To a Cosmonaut" read and composed by Biplab Roy.

"Spectrum-X-Gamma" consists of two mirror telescopes. They operate on the principle of oblique incident optics. The apparatus makes a complete overview of the sky and creates a map of the Universe in X-rays with large galaxy clusters. It studies the evolution of galaxies and investigates the nature of the dark energy that is causing the Universe to expand with great acceleration. The invention weighs 2,712 kg. It was launched in 2019.

The First Cosmonaut" in celebration of the International Day of Human Space Flight and to mark the 62nd anniversary of the first space flight of a human. On 12 April 1961, a Soviet cosmonaut Yury Gagarin created a history becoming the first man to conduct a space flight. Gagarin made a full orbit on board of the Vostok-1 spaceship n 108 minutes.
Sergey Shushin, director of the Russian House in Kolkata, Maxim Aleshin, Senior Consul of the Russian Consulate General in Kolkata, S.Datta, curator of the Birla Planetarium, and Samit Saha, co-founder of the Astronomads Bangla group, inaugurated the exhibition and shared their thoughts on the importance of the milestone and other space developments, including the flight of the Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma.
The visitors were shown documentaries on the Yury Gagarin's flight and other space launches. The exhibition will be open to public on 11-14 April, 4 to 7 p.m.

ENG/RUS 62nd anniversary of Yury Gagarin's space flight celebrated in Kolkata
Today, as the world remembers the first space flight of a human, delegation from the Russian Consulate General in Kolkata and Russian House in Kolkata visited the Birla Planetarium and laid flowers to the bronze bust of a Soviet cosmonaut Yury Gagarin, whose space flight made a history. Not only it was the first recorded human space travel, but also the first human orbital flight, and in a completely automatic mode. All that back in 1961. "Man enters space", - newspapers declared around the world.
Alexey Idamkin, Russian Consul General, and Sergey Shushin, head of the Russian House in Kolkata, had a meeting with the officials of Birla Planetarium, presented them exhibition materials on Yury Gagarin and left entries in the visitors' book. Students of the Russian language courses and Russian compatriots laid flowers to the Gagarin's memorial and took a tour of the planetarium.
Birla Planetarium is Asia's second largest one. In February 2012, Deputy Governor of Russia's Kaluga region Nikolay Lyubimov presented the bronze bust of Yury Gagarin to the Birla Planetarium.

Сегодня, когда мир вспоминает первый полёт человека в космос, делегация Генерального консульства России в Калькутте и Русского дома в Калькутте посетила планетарий Бирла и возложила цветы к бронзовому бюсту советского космонавта Юрия Гагарина, чей космический полет совершил история. Это был не только первый зарегистрированный полет человека в космос, но и первый полет человека на орбиту, причем в полностью автоматическом режиме. Все это еще в 1961 году. «Человек выходит в космос», - заявляли газеты всего мира.
Генеральный консул России Алексей Идамкин и глава Русского дома в Калькутте Сергей Шушин встретились с руководством Планетария имени М.П. Бирлы, представили им выставочные материалы о Юрии Гагарине и оставили записи в книге отзывов. Студенты курсов русского языка и российские соотечественники возложили цветы к памятнику Гагарину и осмотрели планетарий.
Планетарий имени М.П. Бирлы — второй по величине в Азии. В феврале 2012 года заместитель губернатора Калужской области России Николай Любимов торжественно передал планетарию Бирла бронзовый бюст Юрия Гагарина.

Today, as the world remembers the first space flight of a human, delegation from the Russian Consulate General in Kolkata and Russian House in Kolkata visited the Birla Planetarium and laid flowers to the bronze bust of a Soviet cosmonaut Yury Gagarin, whose space flight made a history. Not only it was the first recorded human space travel, but also the first human orbital flight, and in a completely automatic mode. All that back in 1961. "Man enters space", - newspapers declared around the world.
Alexey Idamkin, Russian Consul General, and Sergey Shushin, head of the Russian House in Kolkata, had a meeting with the officials of Birla Planetarium, presented them exhibition materials on Yury Gagarin and left entries in the visitors' book. Students of the Russian language courses and Russian compatriots laid flowers to the Gagarin's memorial and took a tour of the planetarium.
Birla Planetarium is Asia's second largest one. In February 2012, Deputy Governor of Russia's Kaluga region Nikolay Lyubimov presented the bronze bust of Yury Gagarin to the Birla Planetarium.

Сегодня, когда мир вспоминает первый полёт человека в космос, делегация Генерального консульства России в Калькутте и Русского дома в Калькутте посетила планетарий Бирла и возложила цветы к бронзовому бюсту советского космонавта Юрия Гагарина, чей космический полет совершил история. Это был не только первый зарегистрированный полет человека в космос, но и первый полет человека на орбиту, причем в полностью автоматическом режиме. Все это еще в 1961 году. «Человек выходит в космос», - заявляли газеты всего мира.
Генеральный консул России Алексей Идамкин и глава Русского дома в Калькутте Сергей Шушин встретились с руководством Планетария имени М.П. Бирлы, представили им выставочные материалы о Юрии Гагарине и оставили записи в книге отзывов. Студенты курсов русского языка и российские соотечественники возложили цветы к памятнику Гагарину и осмотрели планетарий.
Планетарий имени М.П. Бирлы — второй по величине в Азии. В феврале 2012 года заместитель губернатора Калужской области России Николай Любимов торжественно передал планетарию Бирла бронзовый бюст Юрия Гагарина.
