Art exhibition marks 77th anniversary of the Victory over fascism at the Russian House in Kolkata
On 10th May 2022, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata Alexey Idamkin has inaugurated the commemorative art exhibition in celebration of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945. He emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory in order to avoid distorting the truth about the World War II.
The exhibition of paintings, sculptures and installations was organized by the Russian House in Kolkata. Indian artists presented their works, dedicated to the Victory over fascism.
Students of the Institute of Russian Language performed a number of poems and songs, some of which had been written during the war and became iconic. Demonstration of the song "Victory Day" concluded the cultural presentation.
The exhibition includes art works by Indian artists, 100 photographs and 50 posters of the flaming years of 1941-1945 along with 13 reproductions of the art works by the artists of Leningrad during the 900 Days of Blockade. Poems written by the Red Army soldiers and partisans at the front lines of the Great Patriotic War of 1941--1945, books and journals on the World War II are also part of the exhibition.
The exhibition will remain open for public viewing from May 10th to 18th, 3 to 6 p.m. daily, except Sundays.

Millions of people in Russia and other countries will have the opportunity to show their respect for those who fought for the Fatherland, to feel pride in the Great Victory with special force.
You can get a ribbon in Russian houses around the world.
For example:
🔹 In Cyprus, India (New Delhi) and Uzbekistan, distribution will begin on April 27 as part of the Victory Dictation campaign.
🔹 In Hungary - at the Russian House in Budapest from April 25 to May 5.
🔹 In Argentina, you can get a ribbon at the Russian House in Buenos Aires, for example, on May 4 at a private screening of the film "Nuremberg" or on May 6 at the procession of the "Immortal Regiment".
🔹 In Israel, the distribution of ribbons is planned on May 5 at a memorial rally in the forest of the Red Army near Jerusalem or at a motor rally from the north of Israel to the south.
Distribution of St.George ribbons at the Russian House in Kolkata will be held on May 8th and 9th.
The campaign has been running since 2005. Its slogan is "I remember! I'm proud!"

Exhibition "Path to the Victory" opened in the Russian House in Kolkata
On 4 May, an exhibition of Soviet military posters and photographs "Path to the Victory" opened in Kolkata in celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). Alexey Idamkin, Consul General of Russia in Kolkata, inaugurated the exhibition.
Sergey Shushin, vice-consul and director of the Russian House in Kolkata, and Anjan Bera, General secretary of the All-India Peace and Solidarity organization, West Bengal branch, addressed the audience at the inauguration. They have noted how the war changed the course of history and appreciated the courage of the nations which rose up to reinstall peace: only Soviet Union lost 27 million of troops and civilians.
International memorial campaign "St.George's ribbon" was launched at the event. Visitors of the exhibition - Indian citizens and Russian compatriots - received the ribbons as symbols of military glory and remembrance of those who fell in the World War II. A documentary about the 1945 Moscow Victory parade was screened.
The exhibition will remain open on May 5th, 8th and 10th. Screenings of "Panfilov's 28 Men", "T-34" and "Battle of Sevastopol" will be held on those days at 5.30 p.m.

ENG/RUS Immortal Regiment marched on the Victory Day in Kolkata
On May 9, 2023 the Immortal Regiment procession took place in Kolkata, on the territory of the Russian House, as part of the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Five meter long St.George's ribbon, a symbol of military glory of Russia, was spread by the participants.
Russian compatriots, Indians, as well as the Russian Consulate General employees and members of their families gathered to pay respect to the memory of the veterans, home front workers and war children. They shared stories on the military paths of their grandparents.
Maxim Aleshin, Senior Consul of the Russian Consulate General in Kolkata, and Sergey Shushin, head of the Russian House in the city, delivered congratulatory speeches, underlining the importance of the holiday for Russians and for the world. Irina Malysheva, city coordinator of the Immortal Regiment, spoke about the history of that social memorial movement and pronounced a minute of silence.
After the procession, Russian House in Kolkata held a screening of the documentary of the 1945 Victory parade in Moscow and a short film on the siege of Leningrad child survivor. The guests were also presented with a photo exhibition “Path to the Victory".
Another patriotic campaign was supported - Songs of the Victory. Russian compatriots performed famous songs of the Great Patriotic War time. With the support of the Russian House, all the guests were presented with the Victory Day flags.

Бессмертный полк прошел маршем в День Победы в Калькутте
9 мая 2023 года в Калькутте, в рамках празднования 78-й годовщины Победы в Великой Отечественной войне, на территории Русского дома состоялось шествие «Бессмертный полк». Участники развернули пятиметровую Георгиевскую ленту, символ воинской славы России.
Почтить память ветеранов, тружеников тыла и детей войны собрались российские соотечественники, индийцы, а также сотрудники Генерального консульства России и члены их семей. Они поделились историями о воинских путях и заслугах своих бабушек и дедушек
С поздравительными речами выступили консул-советник Генерального консульства России в Калькутте Максим Алешин и руководитель Русского дома в городе Сергей Шушин, подчеркнув важность праздника для россиян и всего мира. Ирина Малышева, городской координатор «Бессмертного полка», рассказала об истории этого общественно-мемориального движения и объявила минуту молчания.
После шествия в Русском доме в Калькутте состоялся показ документального фильма о параде Победы 1945 года в Москве и короткометражного фильма о ребёнке, пережившем блокаду Ленинграда. Также гостям была представлена фотовыставка «Путь к Победе».
Была поддержана еще одна патриотическая акция – «Песни Победы». Российские соотечественники исполнили известные песни времен Великой Отечественной войны. При поддержке Русского дома всем гостям были вручены флаги ко Дню Победы.

Russian compatriots, Indians, as well as the Russian Consulate General employees and members of their families gathered to pay respect to the memory of the veterans, home front workers and war children. They shared stories on the military paths of their grandparents.
Maxim Aleshin, Senior Consul of the Russian Consulate General in Kolkata, and Sergey Shushin, head of the Russian House in the city, delivered congratulatory speeches, underlining the importance of the holiday for Russians and for the world. Irina Malysheva, city coordinator of the Immortal Regiment, spoke about the history of that social memorial movement and pronounced a minute of silence.
After the procession, Russian House in Kolkata held a screening of the documentary of the 1945 Victory parade in Moscow and a short film on the siege of Leningrad child survivor. The guests were also presented with a photo exhibition “Path to the Victory".
Another patriotic campaign was supported - Songs of the Victory. Russian compatriots performed famous songs of the Great Patriotic War time. With the support of the Russian House, all the guests were presented with the Victory Day flags.

Бессмертный полк прошел маршем в День Победы в Калькутте
9 мая 2023 года в Калькутте, в рамках празднования 78-й годовщины Победы в Великой Отечественной войне, на территории Русского дома состоялось шествие «Бессмертный полк». Участники развернули пятиметровую Георгиевскую ленту, символ воинской славы России.
Почтить память ветеранов, тружеников тыла и детей войны собрались российские соотечественники, индийцы, а также сотрудники Генерального консульства России и члены их семей. Они поделились историями о воинских путях и заслугах своих бабушек и дедушек
С поздравительными речами выступили консул-советник Генерального консульства России в Калькутте Максим Алешин и руководитель Русского дома в городе Сергей Шушин, подчеркнув важность праздника для россиян и всего мира. Ирина Малышева, городской координатор «Бессмертного полка», рассказала об истории этого общественно-мемориального движения и объявила минуту молчания.
После шествия в Русском доме в Калькутте состоялся показ документального фильма о параде Победы 1945 года в Москве и короткометражного фильма о ребёнке, пережившем блокаду Ленинграда. Также гостям была представлена фотовыставка «Путь к Победе».
Была поддержана еще одна патриотическая акция – «Песни Победы». Российские соотечественники исполнили известные песни времен Великой Отечественной войны. При поддержке Русского дома всем гостям были вручены флаги ко Дню Победы.
