ENG/RUS Immortal Regiment marched on the Victory Day in Kolkata
On May 9, 2023 the Immortal Regiment procession took place in Kolkata, on the territory of the Russian House, as part of the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Five meter long St.George's ribbon, a symbol of military glory of Russia, was spread by the participants.
Russian compatriots, Indians, as well as the Russian Consulate General employees and members of their families gathered to pay respect to the memory of the veterans, home front workers and war children. They shared stories on the military paths of their grandparents.
Maxim Aleshin, Senior Consul of the Russian Consulate General in Kolkata, and Sergey Shushin, head of the Russian House in the city, delivered congratulatory speeches, underlining the importance of the holiday for Russians and for the world. Irina Malysheva, city coordinator of the Immortal Regiment, spoke about the history of that social memorial movement and pronounced a minute of silence.
After the procession, Russian House in Kolkata held a screening of the documentary of the 1945 Victory parade in Moscow and a short film on the siege of Leningrad child survivor. The guests were also presented with a photo exhibition “Path to the Victory".
Another patriotic campaign was supported - Songs of the Victory. Russian compatriots performed famous songs of the Great Patriotic War time. With the support of the Russian House, all the guests were presented with the Victory Day flags.

9 мая 2023 года в Калькутте, в рамках празднования 78-й годовщины Победы в Великой Отечественной войне, на территории Русского дома состоялось шествие «Бессмертный полк». Участники развернули пятиметровую Георгиевскую ленту, символ воинской славы России.
Почтить память ветеранов, тружеников тыла и детей войны собрались российские соотечественники, индийцы, а также сотрудники Генерального консульства России и члены их семей. Они поделились историями о воинских путях и заслугах своих бабушек и дедушек
С поздравительными речами выступили консул-советник Генерального консульства России в Калькутте Максим Алешин и руководитель Русского дома в городе Сергей Шушин, подчеркнув важность праздника для россиян и всего мира. Ирина Малышева, городской координатор «Бессмертного полка», рассказала об истории этого общественно-мемориального движения и объявила минуту молчания.
После шествия в Русском доме в Калькутте состоялся показ документального фильма о параде Победы 1945 года в Москве и короткометражного фильма о ребёнке, пережившем блокаду Ленинграда. Также гостям была представлена фотовыставка «Путь к Победе».
Была поддержана еще одна патриотическая акция – «Песни Победы». Российские соотечественники исполнили известные песни времен Великой Отечественной войны. При поддержке Русского дома всем гостям были вручены флаги ко Дню Победы.

Russian compatriots in India joined the world in the remembrance campaign
December 3rd in Russia is a mournful date. On this day we pay tribute to the memory of the Unknown Soldier - those soldiers whose final resting place is unknown and who are still listed as missing.
More than half a century ago, the poet Robert Rozhdestvensky wrote the poem “Requiem” - one of the main poetic works about the Great Patriotic War. Today, lines from the poem can be read on thousands of mass graves in various parts of Russia and beyond. Our compatriots, coordinators of the Immortal Regiment and friends of Russia from almost three dozen countries of the world - from Japan, India and Korea to Burkina Faso, Panama and Palestine today read for you an excerpt from the poem “Requiem” by Robert Rozhdestvensky. In memory of the unknown soldiers of the Great Patriotic War and World War II who died in the battle with Nazism.

A Russian compatriot receives an award from the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency
Director of the Russian House in Kolkata Sergey Shushin presented a letter of gratitude to a Russian compatriot Irina Malysheva from the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency Evgeny Primakov and from the general coordinator of the Immortal Regiment international movement Mger Avetisyan.
The letter of gratitude is awarded for active participation in the preparation and holding of events dedicated to the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 with thanks for the significant contribution to preservation of historical memory.

Memorial march took place in Kolkata
On the eve of the 79th anniversary of Victory Day, Russians and Indians marched through Kolkata.
The campaign, held on May 5 on the territory of the Russian House, was attended by families of Russian compatriots with children, the youngest of whom is not yet a year old, and Indian graduates of Russian universities.
The participants of the action shared stories about the fate of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, about their military journey. As part of the procession, a 5-meter St. George ribbon was solemnly carried in memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

В преддверии 79-й годовщины Дня Победы россияне и индийцы прошли маршем по Калькутте.
В акции, проведённой 5 мая на территории Русского дома, приняли участие 18 человек - семьи российских соотечественников с детьми, самому младшему из которых нет ещё и года, и индийцы-выпускники российских вузов.
Участники акции делились рассказами о судьбах своих дедов и прадедов, об их боевом пути. В рамках шествия была торжественно пронесена 5-метровая Георгиевская лента в знак памяти о подвиге советского народа в Великой Отечественной войне.
