Peoples of Russia: Erzya
Erzya is an ethnic group of Mordovians that developed in the middle of the first millennium AD.
The beliefs of the people combined both pagan and Christian traditions, veneration of the spirits of ancestors and sacred trees. For the role of temporary priests who perform religious rites, they elected revered elders among their fellow villagers.
Erzya wedding traditions are divided into 3 stages: pre-wedding, wedding and post-wedding. The bride was chosen by the groom's side, taking into account the well-being of the family and the health of the future wife. Then the dowry was discussed and the rite of setting the date of the wedding was held.
The women's traditional Erzya costume is considered the pinnacle of the material culture of the people: it combined exquisite patterns, rituals and folk symbolism. The costume was a long shirt, richly decorated with embroidery. An obligatory and important element was a belt decoration - pulai. He pointed to women of childbearing age, and the better it was decorated, the richer her family was considered. Its weight could reach up to 8 kg.

Верования народа соединили в себе как языческие, так и христианские традиции, почитание духов предков и священных деревьев. На роль временных жрецов, исполняющих религиозные обряды, они избирали почитаемых старцев среди односельчан.
Свадебные традиции эрзя разделяются на 3 этапа: предсвадебный, свадебный и послесвадебный. Невесту выбирала сторона жениха, учитывая благосостояние семьи и здоровье будущей жены. Затем обсуждалось приданое и проводился обряд назначения даты свадьбы.
Женский традиционный костюм эрзя считается вершиной материальной культуры народа: он сочетал изысканные узоры, следование обрядам и народному символизму. Костюм представлял собой длинную рубаху, богато украшенную вышивкой. Обязательным и важным элементом было поясное украшение— пулай . Он указывал на женщин детородного возраста, и чем лучше был украшен, тем богаче считалась ее семья. Его вес мог доходить до 8 кг.

The "RuWiki" Internet encyclopedia has opened five new sections in the languages of the peoples of Russia - Bashkir, Mari, Sakha, Tatar and Chechen.
