UNESCO World Heritage Site. Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano
Kamchatka is the land of volcanoes, on the territory of which there are more than 300 extinct volcanoes and 29 active ones. The most amazing and most powerful of them is Klyuchevskaya Sopka. It is one of the highest volcanoes in Eurasia and Russia, which is about 7 thousand years old. Klyuchevskaya Sopka is a part of "Volcanoes of Kamchatka" complex and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The first eruption of Klyuchevskaya Sopka was fixed in 1737. The first in the history ascent on its top in 1788 was made by Daniel Gauss, a Russian naval officer.
The volcano height varies in the range from 4.7 to 4.85 kilometers above sea level. The volcano erupts once in every 3 to 5 years, and high-powered eruptions are in every 25 to 30 years.
The foot of the Klyuchevskaya Sopka is an incredible and mysterious place. The locals are afraid of the volcano and do not climb it. They tell in legends that spirits of ancestors live inside the mountain, and when smoke comes out of the vent, it means that they are heating their dwellings.
A rare natural phenomenon is the lenticular clouds over the Kliuchevskoy volcano. They cover its top like a hat, and even strong gusts of wind do not move them.
The uniqueness of the relief of the volcano and its pronounced activity attracts climbers and tourists from all over the world. They are not afraid of neither the difficult road, nor the harsh climate, because they all want to see with their own eyes such an amazing natural wonder.

Это один из высочайших вулканов в Евразии и России, ему около 7 тысяч лет. Ключевская сопка входит в состав комплекса «Вулканы Камчатки» и включена в список природных объектов Всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО.
Впервые извержение Ключевской сопки было зафиксировано в 1737 году. Первое в истории восхождение на ее вершину в 1788 году совершил Даниил Гаусс, русский морской офицер.
Высота вулкана меняется в диапазоне от 4,7 до 4,85 километров над уровнем моря. Извержения вулкана бывают примерно один раз в 3-5 лет, а выбросы повышенной силы через каждые 25-30 лет.
Подножие Ключевской сопки – место невероятное и загадочное. Местные жители боятся вулкана и не поднимаются на него. Они рассказывают в легендах, что внутри горы живут духи предков, и когда из жерла идет дым – это означает, что они топят свои жилища.
Редкое для природы явление – лентикулярные облака над Ключевской сопкой. Они накрывают ее вершину словно шляпа, а сильные порывы ветра не двигают их.
