#OTD One of the great Russian writers, Ivan Turgenev, passed away 140 years ago. He was one of the first to introduce political content into the Russian novel. This influenced the development of both Russian and foreign literature.

In Russia, streets, museums, libraries, cultural centers are named in memory of the writer. Today we will tell you about 5 such places in the Orel region.

๐ŸŒณ Landscape square "Noblemen's Nest"

It was here that the events of Turgenev's novel of the same name about tragic love unfolded. From the cliff opens a panorama of the city, and when descending to the river, time seems to stop - there is no noise of streets, cars, bustle. Only narrow paths and meadows surrounded by trees.

๐Ÿ“– Literary Quarter

The literary quarter concentrates a large number of museums - the house of historian Granovsky, museums of Turgenev, Bunin, Orlovian writers and the house where General Efremov lived.

๐ŸŒŠ Turgenev's Shore and "Orel's Arbat"

Turgenevโ€™s Shore is the bank of the Oka River, where little Ivan used to walk with his nanny. On the way to it you can walk along the pedestrian Lenin Street - "Orlovsky Arbat". Here was the hotel "Jordan", where the writer often stayed.

๐Ÿ› Museum-reserve Spasskoye-Lutovinovo

Turgenev's family estate is depicted on the pages of many works of the writer. This place has preserved the atmosphere of Turgenev's epoch. Today there is a manor house-museum, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, the "outhouse of the exile" and an ancient park of the XIX century.

๐Ÿ“…Today marks the 255th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Krylov, an outstanding Russian writer and fable writer.

๐Ÿ“•His fables have become an integral part of the worldโ€™s literary culture, remaining relevant in our time.

Here are some interesting facts from the writerโ€™s life:

๐Ÿ”น Krylov had no secular education and teachers, and his father taught him to read;
๐Ÿ”น Pushkin said about Krylov: ยซHe is one of our best writers, he is our Lafontaineยป;
๐Ÿ”น Krylov worked as a librarian in the St. Petersburg public library for 30 years;
๐Ÿ”น his early attempts at dramaturgy were unsuccessful and drew criticism;
๐Ÿ”น Krylovโ€™s fables were read and known by heart from the tsar and minister to the common soldier and peasant;
๐Ÿ”น he withdrew from dramaturgy and concentrated on fables by the age of 40.

๐Ÿ‚๐ŸBeauty of autumn in Mikhailovskoye (Alexander Pushkin's Estate)

๐ŸŒณThe land which made up Mikhalovskaya Guba was granted in perpetuity by decree of Empress Elizabeth, daughter of Peter the Great, to Pushkinโ€™s great-grandfather, Abram Petrovich Gannibal, known as "the Negro of Peter the Great", for his services to Russia.

๐ŸŒณThe poet first visited the family estate just after graduating from Tsarskoye Selo lycee and was enchanted by the natural beauty of the place, the poetry of the peasant life and the aura of the past.

๐Ÿ‚๐ŸFrom 1824 until the end of his life Pushkin made frequent visit to Mikhailovskoye, where he also spent two years in exile. Mikhailovskoye became for him a place of intensive poetic creation.

๐Ÿ“ŒNowadays Mikhaylovskoye Museum Reserve is a museum reserve complex dedicated to Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, the founder of modern Russian literature.
