"The Latvian "national patriots" have once again desecrated in the center of Riga the monument to the great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin. Apparently, inspired by the practices of international terrorist organizations (see the photo), the perpetrators put a black bag on the head of the monument and threw flowers from the pedestal into the dumpster.
The fact that the young vandals shot this impertinence on a video camera makes this outrageous trick especially cynical. Judging by the materials in the Internet, they were minors.
However, there is nothing to wonder about – the authorities of modern Latvia do educate their youth in the spirit of such ideals. In 2022, in the midst of Russophobic rage, they destroyed more than 120 objects of historical and cultural heritage. As the saying goes, monkey see, monkey do."

"We are outraged by another cowardly trick of the Latvian defilers, who once again desecrated the monument to the great Russian poet A.S.Pushkin in Riga.
Given the fact that this is the third attack on this monument in the recent months, it becomes obvious that this incident goes beyond random hooligan actions and takes on the character of purposeful activity aimed at combating symbols of the Russian culture in this Baltic republic.
Unfortunately, we see that the unbridled behavior of representatives of the local "nationalistic" circles is not being duely opposed by the Latvian official authorities and law enforcement agencies.
One gets an impression that certain forces interested in this are deliberately seeking to form an "ambience" of instability around the monument to A.S.Pushkin and preparing the public for its demolition almost under the pretext of its salvation from vandals.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the caring residents of the Republic who have undertaken a noble mission to eliminate the consequences of this barbaric act."

11 апреля с.г., в Международный день освобождения узников фашистских концентрационных лагерей, Временный поверенный в делах России в Латвии О.О.Зыков и дипломаты Посольства возложили венки и цветы на территории Саласпилсского мемориального комплекса, почтив память жертв, зверски замученных гитлеровскими карателями в годы Великой Отечественной войны.
Продолжение церемонии состоялось на территории Старого гарнизонного кладбища, где нацистские преступники и их пособники массово захоранивали тела истерзанных узников лагеря смерти в Саласпилсе.

"20 апреля 2023 г. Сейм Латвии в спешном порядке одобрил законодательную инициативу, которая запрещает проведение любых мероприятий по случаю празднования Дня Победы, фактически объявив 9 Мая «вне закона».
Решительно осуждаем эту безнравственную выходку латвийских парламентариев, деятельность которых давно вышла за рамки здравого смысла и норм поведения, принятых в цивилизованных странах.
Рассматриваем результат голосования местных депутатов как акт глумления над светлой памятью героев, отдавших жизнь в борьбе с фашистскими захватчиками, и очередную попытку предать забвению уроки Второй мировой войны, переписав её итоги.
Развёрнутая Ригой беспрецедентная кампания по массовому сносу памятников советским воинам, героизации легионеров «Ваффен-СС» вкупе с гонениями на не согласных с этой иезуитской политикой лиц нарушает все мыслимые международно-правовые обязательства республики.
Любые попытки очернить решающий вклад СССР в освобождение мира от «коричневой чумы» и вытравить из памяти жителей Латвии героический подвиг советского народа заведомо обречены на провал".

We strongly condemn this immoral escapade of the Latvian parliamentarians, whose deeds have long ago gone beyond the bounds of common sense and norms of behavior recognized by civilized nations.
We consider the result of the vote of the local deputies as an insult to the blessed memory of the heroes who gave their lives in the fight against the Fascist invaders, and another attempt to consign to oblivion the lessons of the Second World War by rewriting its results.
Riga's unprecedented campaign on the mass demolition of the monuments to the Soviet soldiers, glorification of the "Waffen-SS" legionnaires, coupled with the persecution of those who disagree with these politics of blasphemy, do violate republic's all international legal obligations.
Any attempts to tarnish the decisive contribution of the USSR to the liberation of the world from the "brown plague" and erase from the Latvians' memory the heroic feat of the Soviet people are no doubt doomed to failure."

The great Russian poet is accused of serving as a "symbol of Russian imperialism" and a "tool of soft power" of the Russian Embassy. In fact, this cowardly trick of the local Russophobes is a cynical attempt to prevent the monument from transforming into a new center of attraction and spiritual unity of the Russian-speaking residents of Latvia.
There was certainly no broad public discussion of this idea: it was initiated by a small group of the nationalistic deputies in the Riga City Council. No one even bothered to ask the opinion of hundreds of thousands of Riga`s residents.
How can such a blatant barbaric act towards a monument devoted to the internationally recognized genius of the world literature occur in a civilized state, the cities of which claim to be the "Cultural Capital of Europe"?
This Jesuit decision, made under hypocritical politicized slogans, is another clear evidence of the rise of xenophobia in the republic and leads to the further increase of interethnic tensions.

This treacherous step, as is customary here, was carried out secretly under the cover of night in order to avoid unnecessary resonance.
Let's recall that the decision to get rid of this memorial object was taken by the Riga City Council in the best traditions of the "Latvian democracy", without taking into account the opinion of the city's residents and the author of the monument A.Taratynov.
This cowardly trick of the local Russophobes, undertaken out of fear of the consolidation of the Republic`s citizens on the basis of common cultural values, will not change the fact that hundreds of thousands of Latvians still treat with reverence and will always honor the great literary heritage that A.S.Pushkin, a truly world-class poet, left to his descendants.

On June 9, 2023, the Russian Embassy in Latvia held a reception on the occasion of the national holiday – the Day of Russia. The event was attended by the representatives of the diplomatic corps, business circles and public organizations, as well as compatriots and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
The guests were greeted by Charge d'affaires of Russia in Latvia O.O.Zykov, who emphasized that the celebration of the Day of Russia unites the multinational people of the Russian Federation and serves as a symbol of boundless respect and love for the Motherland, its centuries-old history, unique natural and spiritual wealth. "The Latvian law enforcement officers continue to ruthlessly eradicate the historical memory of their own population.
Apparently, inspired by the classic dystopian novels, where the principle of "control is freedom" is put at the forefront, local lawkeepers began to send out mass notifications on initiating administrative proceedings against Republic's residents, who "had the temerity" to post on social media publications on the occasion of the Victory Day or express their support to them.

"The Latvian law enforcement officers continue to ruthlessly eradicate the historical memory of their own population.
Apparently, inspired by the classic dystopian novels, where the principle of "control is freedom" is put at the forefront, local lawkeepers began to send out mass notifications on initiating administrative proceedings against Republic's residents, who "had the temerity" to post on social media publications on the occasion of the Victory Day or express their support to them.

❗️We drew attention to the recent statements made by the Latvian education officials that dissemination of information about the Russian distance school programs is considered almost as a threat to the national security and is a subject to careful study by local law enforcement agencies.
By impetuously cracking down on "Russian schools" local fighters for the "ideological purity" of the educational sphere seem to be seriously determined to restrict access to educational programs recognized as "dangerous" for the Western value system.
Judging by the public rhetoric of the Latvian officials, the war against "wrong thinking" in the republic is getting much more horryfying. The question of how such a policy of practically total censorship correlates with the status of the European law-governed state remains open.

"2 ноября с.г. Сейм Латвии в срочном порядке (более насущных дел, по-видимому, не нашлось) принял поправки к закону «О дорожном движении», которые предусматривают конфискацию автомобилей с российскими номерами, не прошедших перерегистрацию к 14 февраля 2024 г. При этом «нарушители» не только лишатся собственного имущества, но и ещё будут вынуждены оплатить денежный штраф в размере до 450 евро.
Это ли не верх цинизма – под надуманным предлогом сначала отнять у человека законно приобретённый транспорт, а затем ещё заставить доплатить сверху?! Иначе как государственным рэкетом происходящее не назовешь.
Очевидно, понимая неправовую сущность этой инициативы, латвийские законодатели в своё оправдание апеллируют к статье 52 Хартии Евросоюза об основных правах, в которой допускается возможность ограничения прав и свобод во имя «общих интересов» стран-членов ЕС.
В то же время лукаво умалчивается содержание статьи 17 этого международного акта, где прямо сказано: «никто не может быть лишён собственности» без веских на то оснований. Однако, даже если до этого дойдёт, то пострадавшее лицо должно получить «выплату справедливого возмещения» за утраченное имущество!
В латвийском же законе, понятное дело, нет и намёка на какую-либо компенсацию.
Более того, из заявления Сейма Латвии следует, что изъятые у россиян транспортные средства будут переданы в пользу Украины.
Что ж, Риге не привыкать жить за чужой счёт. Ради поддержания имиджа «верного союзника» киевского режима местные власти готовы идти на любые, даже самые сомнительные авантюры, вплоть до отъёма личного имущества россиян. Словом, всё что угодно, лишь бы не платить из собственного кармана.
Направили латвийской стороне ноту, выразив решительный протест в связи с этой очередной репрессивной мерой, грубо попирающей права российских граждан."
