💬 "Напомню, латвийский режим подверг (и подвергал долгие годы) его жесточайшему преследованию за профессиональную деятельность. Предпринимаем все усилия по вызволению журналиста из латышских застенков. Иной вариант развития событий, кроме как освобождение М.Касема и снятие с него сфабрикованных обвинений никого, кто понимает о чем идет речь, устроить не может.

На прошлой неделе адвокат М.Касема сообщила, что суд Риги отказался удовлетворить ходатайство об освобождении его из-под стражи, назвав свое решение окончательным и не подлежащим обжалованию на национальном уровне. Это очередное проявление мстительного произвола латвийского карательного аппарата, сводящего счеты с не желающим предавать свои убеждения журналистом. По-другому это назвать нельзя.

Истинную суть латвийского государства хорошо характеризует то, при каких обстоятельствах состоялась жуткая «вендетта». Служба госбезопасности не преминула воспользоваться приездом М.Касема в Ригу навестить больную бабушку. Она умерла. Сразу после смерти Таисии Ильиничны, не сумевшей вынести новости о его аресте, у Марата резко обострились проблемы со здоровьем, что, однако, не подтолкнуло рижскую псевдо-Фемиду проявить … даже не говорю про милосердие. При чем здесь оно? Есть же закон, и есть нормы, о которых прибалтийские страны постоянно говорят всем, как о своих главных целях и задачах развития. Хороший был пример, на котором можно было бы доказать, что демократия не пустой звук, не форма политической управляемости этих стран из Вашингтона. Условия его содержания под стражей и пренебрежение обязательствами по оказанию своевременной медицинской помощи позволяют квалифицировать такое отношение как антигуманное, граничащее с пытками.

Требуем незамедлительно освободить М.Касема и настаиваем, чтобы на это вопиющее надругательство над обязательствами в сфере защиты прав человека со стороны Риги отреагировали все профильные международные структуры".

"On March 16, in the center of Riga, there took place a procession of admirers of former servicemen of the Latvian SS Volunteer Legion and collaborators, whose hands are stained with the blood of thousands of civilians who became victims of mass massacres of the Nazi regime.

Despite the verdict of the Nuremberg Tribunal and numerous international acts, including the UN General Assembly resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism, adopted in December last year on the initiative of Russia, Latvia continues to pursue a revisionist policy, year after year honoring the SS criminals.

Despite the awkward attempts by the official authorities of this Baltic state to distance themselves from this shameful event, which gathered hundreds of admirers of the “Waffen-SS” legionnaires, the high-ranking representatives of a political force from the ruling coalition of the Republic of Latvia nevertheless took part in the manifestation, thereby, having acknowledged a spiritual kinship with the glorified "heroes".

We would like to believe that Latvia is fully aware that the obsessive intention to rehabilitate the Nazis significantly undermines the international authority not only of the Republic itself, but also of the entire European Union, which pretends to be a template for democracy and human rights."

"The Latvian "national patriots" have once again desecrated in the center of Riga the monument to the great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin. Apparently, inspired by the practices of international terrorist organizations (see the photo), the perpetrators put a black bag on the head of the monument and threw flowers from the pedestal into the dumpster.

The fact that the young vandals shot this impertinence on a video camera makes this outrageous trick especially cynical. Judging by the materials in the Internet, they were minors.

However, there is nothing to wonder about – the authorities of modern Latvia do educate their youth in the spirit of such ideals. In 2022, in the midst of Russophobic rage, they destroyed more than 120 objects of historical and cultural heritage. As the saying goes, monkey see, monkey do."

"We are outraged by another cowardly trick of the Latvian defilers, who once again desecrated the monument to the great Russian poet A.S.Pushkin in Riga.

Given the fact that this is the third attack on this monument in the recent months, it becomes obvious that this incident goes beyond random hooligan actions and takes on the character of purposeful activity aimed at combating symbols of the Russian culture in this Baltic republic.

Unfortunately, we see that the unbridled behavior of representatives of the local "nationalistic" circles is not being duely opposed by the Latvian official authorities and law enforcement agencies.

One gets an impression that certain forces interested in this are deliberately seeking to form an "ambience" of instability around the monument to A.S.Pushkin and preparing the public for its demolition almost under the pretext of its salvation from vandals.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the caring residents of the Republic who have undertaken a noble mission to eliminate the consequences of this barbaric act."

"20 апреля 2023 г. Сейм Латвии в спешном порядке одобрил законодательную инициативу, которая запрещает проведение любых мероприятий по случаю празднования Дня Победы, фактически объявив 9 Мая «вне закона».

Решительно осуждаем эту безнравственную выходку латвийских парламентариев, деятельность которых давно вышла за рамки здравого смысла и норм поведения, принятых в цивилизованных странах.

Рассматриваем результат голосования местных депутатов как акт глумления над светлой памятью героев, отдавших жизнь в борьбе с фашистскими захватчиками, и очередную попытку предать забвению уроки Второй мировой войны, переписав её итоги.

Развёрнутая Ригой беспрецедентная кампания по массовому сносу памятников советским воинам, героизации легионеров «Ваффен-СС» вкупе с гонениями на не согласных с этой иезуитской политикой лиц нарушает все мыслимые международно-правовые обязательства республики.

Любые попытки очернить решающий вклад СССР в освобождение мира от «коричневой чумы» и вытравить из памяти жителей Латвии героический подвиг советского народа заведомо обречены на провал".

"On April 20, 2023, the Latvian Saeima hastily approved legislation prohibiting any celebration events on the Victory Day, having in fact "outlawed" 9 May.

We strongly condemn this immoral escapade of the Latvian parliamentarians, whose deeds have long ago gone beyond the bounds of common sense and norms of behavior recognized by civilized nations.

We consider the result of the vote of the local deputies as an insult to the blessed memory of the heroes who gave their lives in the fight against the Fascist invaders, and another attempt to consign to oblivion the lessons of the Second World War by rewriting its results.

Riga's unprecedented campaign on the mass demolition of the monuments to the Soviet soldiers, glorification of the "Waffen-SS" legionnaires, coupled with the persecution of those who disagree with these politics of blasphemy, do violate republic's all international legal obligations.

Any attempts to tarnish the decisive contribution of the USSR to the liberation of the world from the "brown plague" and erase from the Latvians' memory the heroic feat of the Soviet people are no doubt doomed to failure."

"On April 25, 2023, the Riga City Council approved the decision to dismantle the monument to Alexander Pushkin located in the city center.

The great Russian poet is accused of serving as a "symbol of Russian imperialism" and a "tool of soft power" of the Russian Embassy. In fact, this cowardly trick of the local Russophobes is a cynical attempt to prevent the monument from transforming into a new center of attraction and spiritual unity of the Russian-speaking residents of Latvia.

There was certainly no broad public discussion of this idea: it was initiated by a small group of the nationalistic deputies in the Riga City Council. No one even bothered to ask the opinion of hundreds of thousands of Riga`s residents.

How can such a blatant barbaric act towards a monument devoted to the internationally recognized genius of the world literature occur in a civilized state, the cities of which claim to be the "Cultural Capital of Europe"?

This Jesuit decision, made under hypocritical politicized slogans, is another clear evidence of the rise of xenophobia in the republic and leads to the further increase of interethnic tensions.

Such policy of the Latvian ruling elites deserves nothing, but strong condemnation, and should not be left without attention and principled response from Latvia's partners in the European Union and international specialized organizations".

"On May 30, the Latvian authorities dismantled the sculpture of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin in Riga's park of Kronvald, which for 14 years served as a place of unity of our compatriots and a place of contact with the Russian cultural heritage.

This treacherous step, as is customary here, was carried out secretly under the cover of night in order to avoid unnecessary resonance.

Let's recall that the decision to get rid of this memorial object was taken by the Riga City Council in the best traditions of the "Latvian democracy", without taking into account the opinion of the city's residents and the author of the monument A.Taratynov.

This cowardly trick of the local Russophobes, undertaken out of fear of the consolidation of the Republic`s citizens on the basis of common cultural values, will not change the fact that hundreds of thousands of Latvians still treat with reverence and will always honor the great literary heritage that A.S.Pushkin, a truly world-class poet, left to his descendants.

The purposeful efforts of the Latvian authorities to eradicate objects of the Russian culture not only overshadow the image of a "modern civilized state", but serve as signs of their own weakness."
