Our agenda includes implementation of several important and large projects like the GAZ lorry assembly plant and the development of the Russian Helicopters service, to name a few.
We value our cultural, cultural and educational cooperation. We confirmed our gratitude to our Azerbaijani friends for their careful attitude to the Russian language and culture.

🎙 Video address to the participants of the joint meeting of SCO and CIS defence ministers
Read in full
💬 I am delighted to welcome defence ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and CIS member states to Moscow.
☝️ I think this meeting is timely and very significant. Cooperation as part of the SCO and the CIS enables us to attain a wide range of objectives, primarily having to do with protecting our countries from external threats and ensuring global and regional stability while relying on mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests.
This is especially important today as new drastic challenges are emerging, and major geopolitical shifts are taking place.
<...>
❗️ I am convinced that the nature and scale of today's threats raise the requirements concerning cooperation between our defence agencies. It is imperative to work in cooperation and build a more flexible and sustainable security and cooperation system that can handle the current challenges.
<...>
Joint peacekeeping missions have become exceptionally important as well. It is crucial to further improve the peacekeeping units’ operational capabilities and to keep them involved in #UN peace-keeping efforts.
🤝 I am sure that close partnership in the defence sphere will raise our countries’ standing and influence, contribute to strengthening security and stability in Eurasia and the world as a whole and, without a doubt, will promote the traditions of friendship and trust between our countries and peoples.

During the meeting, Sergey Lavrov highly praised the current state of relations between Russia and China, which are developing dynamically in accordance with the agreements reached at the meeting of the two countries' leaders on December 30, 2022. Their practical implementation was discussed.
🤝 In view of the lifting of quarantine restrictions, the Sides agreed on the expediency of restoring the tempo of face-to-face contacts, mutual tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries as soon as possible.
A number of topical issues on the bilateral, global and regional agendas were discussed. The constructive dialogue and high level of bilateral coordination within the #UN, #BRICS, #SCO and other international organisations and associations was praised as fully corresponding to the partnership and trust-based nature of relations between our countries.

The officials reaffirmed their intention to reliably defend the sovereignty, security, and development interests of the two countries, and to build together a more just and democratic multipolar world order.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement and answers to media questions during a joint news conference with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan following talks (Moscow, March 20, 2023)
Key talking points:
🇷🇺🇦🇲 We held extended, fulfilling and useful talks. We discussed practically every aspect of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues. We outlined paths for continued development of our strategic partnership and alliance.
🔹 We also discussed disquieting developments in the South Caucasus. We see undisguised attempts by Western countries to pit Russia against Armenia (let's call things by their name) and to undermine regional security architecture not in order to promote the interests of the countries of the region, but their own geopolitical and selfish interests. I’m sure these attempts are doomed.
🔹 We covered in detail ways to settle the situation in the Lachin Corridor and Nagorno-Karabakh. We reaffirmed the importance of the speedy resumption of the negotiating process between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia across all areas covered by the trilateral agreements.
☝️ We agreed to work closely on the core regional and international platforms, to work together to strengthen the CSTO, to expand cooperation in the #EAEU and the #CIS, to support each other's initiatives, primarily in the #UN, and to maintain close contacts within the #OSCE.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to media questions following the SCO Foreign Ministers Council meeting (Panaji, May 5, 2023)
#SCO
We have a common vision of problems persisting in the international arena. Our shared desire is to coordinate our actions at the #UN and on the Eurasian continent with such organisations as the #EAEU and #ASEAN, and more globally, to cooperate with the #BRICS countries.
Our colleagues from Central Asia are interested in promoting cooperation on information security and the fight against organised crime and drug trafficking in the SCO space. We think it is important to establish relevant divisions and let them be coordinated by the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure.
There is an understanding that the role of national currencies in settlements between SCO members should be increased. Practices currently taking shape within the Eurasian Development Bank, the Asian Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the BRICS New Development Bank could be used for this purpose.
#Afghanistan
Today, we came to terms on reaffirming the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group. This group exists, although it has been some time since it met. One of the reasons is the Taliban’s status. Thus far, it is not recognised “de jure.” We are expecting the Taliban leaders to fulfill their promises on forming an inclusive government not only in terms of ethnic groups but also by ensuring the presence of the entire spectrum of Afghanistan’s political forces. This has yet to be done.
There is convincing evidence to the effect that the US supports the terrorist groups entrenched in the territory of Afghanistan that are opposed to the Taliban, including the Islamic State, the Islamic Movement of East Turkestan, and Al-Qaeda. The Americans have not abandoned their attempts to reintroduce US military infrastructure in the region surrounding Afghanistan, in Central Asia.
Everyone is well aware of the serious threat inherent in these attempts. We will resolutely oppose them.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answers to questions of the Moscow. Kremlin. Putin TV programme (3 July 2024, Astana)
❓ Question: How were the talks with President of China?
💬 Sergey Lavrov: Excellent. We share a complete understanding.
❓ Question: What issues were discussed first?
💬 Sergey Lavrov: The entire range of issues on our bilateral agenda and of our cooperation on the global stage, including #UN, #BRICS, #SCO, and various other formats.
❓ Question: Were the Ukrainian settlement process and President Vladimir Putin’s peace plan discussed?
💬 Sergey Lavrov: These positions are well known. China firmly supports a peaceful settlement. We share this approach. We have repeatedly commented on Chinese initiatives.
However, as you know, Ukraine rejects any attempts to negotiate. Zelensky’s executive order prohibits negotiating with Russia. The West does not want Ukraine to stop this war that it unleashed against Russia with Ukrainians’ hands.
Several days ago, our well-known pranksters Vovan and Leksus talked with Hillary Clinton (on behalf of Petr Poroshenko) who said directly that their common deed must be continued by all means. This is what the current situation looks like.

🇷🇺🇮🇳 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, on an official visit to Russia, held talks in the Grand Kremlin Palace.
💬 Vladimir Putin: Mr Prime Minister, this is your first official visit after your reappointment following parliamentary elections. I would like to congratulate you on this once again.
Our countries have long-time friendship and good relations that have evolved over the decades. This year, we are marking the 77th Anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Today, our relations have the status of a specially privileged strategic partnership. We are in permanent contact, and we prioritise the development of trade and economic ties. Certainly, their development meets the interests of the people of India and the peoples of the Russian Federation.
📈 Last year, our trade soared by 60 percent and even more, by 66 percent; it increased by an additional 20 percent in the first quarter of 2024.
🌐 We cooperate closely on the international arena, including at international organisations, primarily the #UN and such associations as the #SCO and #BRICS.
Yesterday, we had an opportunity to discuss virtually all practical issues in an informal setting. I am grateful to you for devoting attention to the most acute issues and for trying to find some options for resolving the Ukraine crisis, primarily by peaceful methods.
Mr Prime Minister, we will be delighted to see you in Kazan this autumn at the upcoming BRICS Summit.
At the end of my opening remarks, I would like to wish you new successes in facilitating the development of the Indian state. You and I know each other for a long time, and I know that your entire life is devoted to implementing the idea of strengthening the Indian state and improving the life of the people of India.

💬 The 79th Session of the UN General Assembly has recently completed the general debate, where President Vladimir Putin tasked me to represent the Russian Federation.
Does the Pact for the Future have a future?
Held as usual in the last week of September, the UN’s High-Level Week included the so-called Summit of the Future. The idea to convene it came from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Russia has met this idea with understanding considering that the UN is sinking deeper and deeper into a crisis, and something has to be done about it. Russian diplomats joined efforts to prepare this meeting and acted in a sincere and honest way, even if we did not have any illusions in this regard. In fact, there were quite a few major UN events in the past which failed to go beyond bombastic declarations that were forgotten soon after their adoption.
<...>
In 2015, the UN Summit on Sustainable Development adopted grand plans to fight poverty and inequality. In the end, they turned out to be empty promises in the face of the unwillingness of the Western countries to give up their neo-colonial practices of siphoning off the riches of the world for their own benefit. <...>
The current UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, just like Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon before him, has put forward an initiative under the slogan of giving a new start and resetting global cooperation.
This is a wonderful idea. Who could disagree?
But what global cooperation is there to talk about, when the West has trampled all those unshakeable values of globalisation we have been hearing about from everywhere for so many years. These perorations were designed to convince us that they would give everyone equal access to the goods of modern civilisation. Where is the inviolability of property, the presumption of innocence, freedom of expression, access to information, fair market competition under fair and constant rules?
How can we discuss global cooperation when the Western countries have unleashed a real war of sanctions against more than half, if not the majority, of the countries of the world, and the US dollar has been crudely turned into a weapon against undesirable countries? <...>
Key talking points:
• It is not too late to give the UN a new lease on life.
• It has gotten to the point where the West wants to turn the UN into an instrument for attaining itself-seeking goals.
• [The West is] hindering the badly needed change in the system of forming the UN Secretariat, where the key posts have been seized and are “inherited” by representatives of the Western minority.
• There must be an honest discussion by all UN member states, and not like a process in which the Pact for the Future was prepared – without a single plenary session of talks attended by all countries.
• Establishing a space of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia is crucial amid the all-encompassing processes unfolding in the macro-region.
• Our initiative is based on the understanding of the need for states and multilateral organisations of the Eurasian region to assume responsibility for ensuring their own security under the ‘Eurasian solutions to Eurasian problems’ formula.

❗️ Today, the international community once again faces massive challenges, just like during World War II, which require united efforts rather than confrontation and desire of global dominance. Russia will always advocate collective efforts, truth and the rule of law, peace and cooperation in the interests of reviving the ideals set forth by the UN’s founding fathers.
🇺🇳 Working for the honest balance of the legitimate national interests of all countries, we can bring to life the purpose of the #UN as stated in its Charter: “To be a centre for harmonising the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.”

April 2 marks International Fact-Checking Day!
🇷🇺 Russia leads the global factchecking vanguard.
We advocate for the establishment of an international information space free from disinformation.
✅ Among the foremost global factchecking platforms is the Dialog about Fakes Forum, organised by Dialog Regions, an autonomous non-profit organization, with the support of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The latest Forum, held in November 2024, brought together over 1,000 experts from 65 countries. It announced the creation of a new international alliance of fact-checkers – the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN).
The GFCN’s primary objective lies in countering threats posed by the dissemination of unreliable information on the international stage.
👉 To this end, the Code of Responsible Fact-Checking was established.
This framework ensures objectivity in assessing data veracity, uniting under its banner professionals who genuinely uphold shared values, champion access to impartial information, and commit to collaborative truth-seeking. Participants in the GFCN voluntarily pledge to adhere to its principles.
This initiative constitutes an effective, constructive, and truth-driven alternative to Western biased organisations and associations, advancing perspectives of the Global Majority.

🌐 The Russian Foreign Ministry has long and actively countered disinformation and promoted truth on the international stage and within the global information domain. For years, we have systematically refuted and deconstructed the most egregious instances of disinformation and fakes, including through our longstanding Anti-fake initiative.
Russia consistently champions a fair and depoliticised approach to fact-checking, free from political censorship or partisanship.
We regularly raise information security issues across international platforms, including within the #UN, #SCO, and #BRICS, proposing initiatives to counter fakes.
We extend our congratulations to all principled fact-checkers on their professional holiday 🎉
