On behalf of the United States of America, I send my congratulations to Your Majesty and to the great people of Morocco on Throne Day. This year, we celebrate 250 years of American history and enduring friendship with Morocco — a bond forged in trust and mutual respect.

The United States has been clear: we recognize Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, and we support Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic autonomy proposal as the only basis for a just and lasting solution. Any other path prolongs the status quo and is unacceptable. This urgently needed solution will not only bring peace to the region but prosperity and greater integration for all of Africa. This dispute must end now, and the United States will continue to drive progress toward that end.

Your Majesty’s wise leadership has been a cornerstone of stability. Morocco’s steadfast focus on advancing peace, combating extremism, and protecting American and Moroccan security, including through its vital role in the Abraham Accords, reflects a valuable partnership for the United States. To this end, we will also work together to secure the Sahel region.

Your vision for growth opens doors to good fortune for both our people and economies. I have directed my teams to encourage economic and social development with Morocco, including in the Western Sahara territory. American trusted technology and innovation across strategic sectors from energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and defense will continue to serve as your partners for the next 250 years.

Together, we are building a new era. It is one that puts the interests of both our peoples first. I look forward to even greater success for our two nations as we continue to work together.
