Kochi clothes designers
Hi all,
I’m visiting Kochi with my family in December for the first time. I’m Gujarati descent born and raised in the UK and I love brands like Jodi stores for dresses. Is there anywhere people can recommend with a similar vibe in Kochi. Would love to support some local small designers!
Thanks!

Thinking of moving to Kochi from Australia for 6-12 months. You guys got any advice or takes that could be useful?
I am a 24 year old guy thinking of living in Kochi for a while once I finish my degree. To give you guys my background, I left to live in Australia at the age of 5 and even though we come back to visit once every year or so, I feel like I haven’t really engaged with the culture in my life. I can somewhat speak Malayalam, but I can’t read or write it.
I spend almost all my time volunteering, as in feeding the homeless where I live or organising our group to do projects. Besides that, I am learning Carnatic violin, which I would like to continue in Kochi so finding a teacher would be good. I ride an interceptor 650 over here, and while i’m not after another interceptor, I would like a motorbike to explore on.
In terms of living, I have very very low standards for housing. I used to live in a two bedroom squat house with no running water or electricity with like 12 of my friends. After that I was living in a van, which was just a van, a sleeping bag, and a hiking pack with all my belongings. I fed myself by dumpster diving the bins if my local supermarkets. This wasn’t really because I didn’t have the money (I’m not rich at all, in fact, very far from it), it was just what I was fine with doing.
I guess my main talking points are, about living and engaging with the community.
1. What is rent and share houses like in Kochi? i want to live as close to the city as possible. I don’t need anything fancy at all.
2. what is the used motorbike situation like in kochi?
3. I want to keep doing things for the community, organising community events where like minded people can come together and do good. I am very progressive and lefty, and I’d be keen to have similar folk to hang out and help do cool stuff with.
4. If this isn’t the right place to talk about this stuff, where should I go?

It’s a terrible situation when Sunday falls on the 1st of the month and you completely forget about it.
It’s Sunday and I'm just sitting at home doing nothing. Since it's the 1st of the month, even the bars are closed 🙌 Does anyone have a good plan?

Early morning chai spots
Kindly suggest some chai spots with good view that are open early morning like around 5.30-6am in kochi. Not the usual crowded 24 hour ones. The view, peace vibe and early morning opening times are important.

Building the ultimate Kochi food circuit. Not the usual tourist list.

Okay Kochi people, let's settle this.
I'm trying to put together a proper Kochi food circuit, from early morning breakfast to late-night dessert. Not just the usual Fort Kochi cafés, Lulu Mall restaurants and social-media-famous spots that everyone already knows.
I want the real deal. Old-school hotels, tiny tea shops, legendary messes, neighbourhood bakeries, market-side food joints and those hidden spots that only someone who has actually lived in Kochi would know.
Imagine a full-day food trail:
1. Breakfast (7–9 AM) – Puttu and kadala, appam and stew, pathiri, porotta and beef, idiyappam and egg roast. Where are we starting?
2. Mid-morning tiffin (10–11 AM) – Samosa, mutta puffs, pazhampori, kallummakkaya, kachori, cutlets or something unusual. Which bakery or local kada?
3. Lunch (12:30–2 PM) – Proper Kochi meals, fish curry, fish fry, karimeen pollichathu, crab roast, prawn curry, biriyani or old-school non-veg messes. Where do we get the real deal?
4. Afternoon dessert (3–4 PM) – Lassi, falooda, ice cream, milk sarbath, kulfi, pudding or traditional sweets. Your favourite old-school dessert spot?
5. Evening tea (4–6 PM) – Unnakkaya, chatti pathiri, irachi pathiri, sukhiyan, pazham pori, mutta mala, beef cutlet and proper strong chaya.
6. Dinner (8–10 PM) – Porotta and curry, beef roast, seafood, kappa and fish, appam and stew, biriyani or something underrated.
7. Late-night dessert – Where does Kochi go when it wants something sweet after dinner?
A few rules:
\- Prefer old-school local joints over fancy Instagram cafés.
\- Fort Kochi and Mattancherry are welcome, but don't make this exclusively a tourist-area food trail.
\- Include Ernakulam, Broadway, Palluruthy, Thoppumpady, Vypin, Edappally, Tripunithura and other neighbourhoods.
\- Small shops and family-run establishments are absolutely welcome.
\- Mention the exact dish to order, not just the restaurant name.
\- If a place is famous but overrated, say that too.
\- Budget-friendly recommendations are especially welcome.
I'm trying to turn the answers into a proper food circuit chart, with locations, signature dishes and timings.
Kochi people, let's make a list that even a local would want to save.
What's your one non-negotiable food stop in Kochi?
And please, don't just say Paragon.

Thinking of making Kerala home for 3 months. Locals, where would you suggest I settle?
Hi folks!
So I've been thinking about doing this for quite some time, and it looks like it's finally happening!
I'm from North India and have never been to Kerala, despite wanting to visit for years. Instead of doing a typical tourist trip, I'm planning to spend around three months there, from December to February, working remotely and exploring whenever I get the chance.
I'm currently trying to figure out where to stay. Kochi seems like a practical choice because I'd love to explore both northern and southern Kerala, but I'd prefer somewhere a little quieter, greener, and away from the busiest parts of the city.
Would you recommend living in or around Kochi for a few months? Or is there another place you'd suggest?
I'm looking for a furnished 1BHK, preferably in a residential neighborhood with good internet, reliable electricity, and enough space to set up my workstation. Any leads or suggestions on areas to look at would be appreciated.
Apart from that, I'd love to know what you'd recommend exploring while I'm there. I'm interested in everything from beaches and hill towns to local food, festivals, markets, cultural events, scenic drives, and places that tourists might not even know about.
And if there's anything happening between December and February that I really shouldn't miss, please let me know!
I'd rather discover Kerala through recommendations from people who live there than follow the same old tourist itinerary.
Thanks a lot, guys!

Looking for Flatmates in Kakkanad, Budget ₹5K–₹7K per person
Hey everyone!
I’m currently looking for a flatmate or people who are interested in sharing a flat/room in and around Kakkanad.
A little about me:
* I’m currently working as a Cybersecurity Analyst at Infopark Phase 2.
* My budget is around ₹5,000–₹7,000 per person per month.
* I’m open to finding someone to share a Studio,1BHK, 2BHK or 3BHK flat, depending on the rent and availability.
* Ideally, we could look for a decent flat with a total rent of around ₹15,000–₹20,000 and split the expenses.
I haven’t had much luck finding suitable rental options within my budget, so I thought finding like-minded people interested in sharing a place would be a better option.
I’m open to connecting with anyone who is also looking for a place or is interested in finding and renting a flat together.
If you’re interested, please DM me. We can discuss the budget, locations, preferences, and find something that works for everyone.
Thanks!

Recently I was watching a Gamer nexus videos of : for the lack of a better term , hackerspaces like Noisebridge(SF) and maybe Brother Zhangs repair shop , Zhang Ge, China(they mostly do electronics repair, up cycling and recycling) and I was wondering if we have any spaces or companies like this in Kochi.?? What would be the experience needed and cost associated with starting something similar.

Moving to Kochi (Panampilly / Girinagar / Jawahar Nagar) - Questions on app reliability, monsoons, and home healthcare
Hey everyone, I’m a non-Malayali planning a move to Kochi soon and I am exploring for places around Panampilly Nagar, Girinagar, and Jawahar Nagar. I have few questions about daily life and infrastructure .
1. Grocery & Pharmacy Apps: I keep hearing that Kochi is heavily app-driven for daily logistics. Do you guys mostly rely on big aggregators (BigBasket, Instamart, Blinkit, Apollo) and local independent stores in Panampilly/Girinagar .How is the average delivery turnaround time and are they reliable?
2. Monsoon & Waterlogging: I know parts of Ernakulam face issues during heavy rains. How prone are Jawahar Nagar, Girinagar, and Panampilly to waterlogging? Do app deliveries completely break down during the peak monsoon season in these specific zones?
3. Home Healthcare & Ambulances: Because of family logistics, I need to know about emergency and home care access. Are "Doctor at Home" service providers active and reliable in these neighborhoods? If there's an emergency, do ambulance services navigate these specific residential sectors quickly, or are there major gridlocks/access issues I should be aware of?
Would love to get some authentic insights from locals currently living in or around these areas on how you manage your day-to-day routine.
Thanks a lot!
