How to distribute a 2010s tv show that AFAIK only exists on my hard drive
The show aired in CW but the only way to find it online in recent years was on a random youtube account which has since been taken down (but not before i downloaded it). It never had a physical release and it’s not on any of the t*rrent/nzb sites. I was wondering what the best way is to (anonymously) distribute this show and make it accessible to fans. I tried posting in r/piracy but i wasn’t able to bc my burner doesn’t have enough karma.

Used HDDs, worth it?
Hello fellow hoarders! I've recently started building my own homelab. At the moment, I'm just running a single RPI 5 with attached SSD and couple of cloud VMs backed by S3 storage. I'll be running my compute intensive apps in the cloud VMs and storage systems locally.
I am looking at my Amazon order history and noticed that all the SSDs I bought in the past essentially doubled their price and it's not really affordable for me atm.
Would you recommend getting used HDDs from websites like servermonkey(.)com? I would like to run at least 10TB to 20TB storage locally. Mostly for family photos & videos, downloaded music, videos, movies etc.
I certainly wouldn't want to lose the data. So the plan is pair em and run on RAID 5.
If I want to embark on this journey, what to look for on the HDDs? Any tools, attributes to look out for?

DAS/Cold Storage Setup: What Are You All Using?
What kind of cold storage setups you all are using now? I kinda am looking into one now that I have pretty much set up my NAS and main computer's storage setups
Basically I need a way to still make use of those smaller HDDs that are still working but just happen that my NAS has run out of physical HDD slots and SATA ports to put them inside
So far I saw these three styles of usage, not sure if I missed out anything else
1. Each HDD in their USB enclosures: Simple to set up but heat is a concern
2. Dedicated DAS setup (a.k.a a big multi-HDD enclosure with its fan): I heard there are issues with their firmware or something, right? I last read up about them years ago though
3. Naked HDDs with USB HDD reader: Gets rid of the heat issue for sure. But having to insert/remove HDDs to the reader a la LTO tape setups may introduce mechanical stress to the HDD's SATA connector. There's also still the need to store the HDDs somewhere safely to prevent dust etc...
What else are you all using?

For preserving hard drive longevity, should I leave an external enclosure ON or OFF if it is accessed only every 2 months?
I have an external thunderbolt enclosure with 3.5 inch mechanical hard drives connected to my Mac .
The data on these hard drives is rarely accessed, perhaps once every 2-3 months.
If I leave the enclosure on, the hard drives are idle most of the time, but I hear them spin up intermittently. For example, a "save file" window that shows the external drives makes them spin up.
For preserving the hard drives' longevity, is it best to leave the enclosure on or off?
Thanks

OverByte. I made a reverse compression app - instead of making files/folders smaller it makes them bigger.
You can easily make a 10 gigabyte image from a 25KB one.

Cheapest actual storage?
Hey, I'm looking for the absolute cheapest storage option (yes bad time, I know, but I didn't predict it would be needed). It's for long term storage. The wrapped in aluminum foil and rest in a drawer for decades, and might not ever be looked at again, but it gives me peace of mind to know I could, kind.
Basically anything not used or spoofed capacity scams.
Since the hardware section in the wiki is empty and no one else seems to know anything apart from prices being "generally bad" these days, I'm turning to you.
Please help oh data hoarders!

Data hoarding in a segregated world
With everything happening in the past year, from Internet blackouts becoming the norm in more and more parts of the world, to the US government demanding that Tech Giants cut services to organizations that the administration doesn't like, and laws like the digital ID acts that require websites and even operating systems to identify and track everyone, I think it's pretty much a given that we're headed into a more segregated world, with lots of smaller Internets and digital services providers. I think data hoarders are likely to play an important role in such a world, where data becomes gated and unavailable. Has anyone experienced anything like that in their country/community yet, or is preparing for it?
If you want a good idea of what such a world looks like, there was a great documentary on how Cuban people access media through physical sneaker nets: https://youtu.be/fTTno8D-b2E
