Laptop not turning on properly

Hello! I have a hp laptop 17 cn3053cl 13th gen intel core i5 sitting around that I got when my grandmother passed away. The light on the power button glows but I hear no noise from the fans and the screen does not light up. The computer was not used often and actually worked just fine when I got it. I had yet to reset everything but one day while I was out my aunt (who purchased it for my grandmother) came by to reset it I guess and I haven’t been able to get it to turn on properly since. I’m not very tech educated so it could be something minor or dumb but I’d like to know of any fixes I can try ? I’d like to still utilize it for writing if possible

Where are the files WizTree isn't counting? Trying to solve storage issue

So, I own this computer I use for pretty much everything. I just re-installed windows 10 and I'm about to set it up with all the programs I use again.

One of the issues I have with this computer is the SDD size. It's a 256gb (232 usable) disk. I noticed that even though the disk only has Office and Firefox, everything seems to be taking a total of 94 (87 in disk) GBs... but when I downloaded WizTree to see what was going on it tells me about the 87 GB in use, but only shows 40 being used by C:\\ so, where are the other 47 coming from and how do I get rid of them?

Before you tell me to buy a disk with more storage or a second disk, I can't afford it and it's a compact computer (so no space for a second disk), so yeah it's not an option sorry to disappoint :/

Operating systems

I've been really looking into alternatives for Windows, because has AI You cant disable, bloats, and privacy concerns that I just dont wanna be a part of.

I heard ppl say "just use linux mint. Its basically the same" or, "download atlasOS to your windows!!", "use ReviOS!!" or "use tiny11."

I have no knowledge in coding, I have no idea what any of these do, and I just want to get the right opinion, and which one is better to use.

Please help with laptop recommendations

Hello, I am a sociology student soon to be graduate and had an HP Pavilion Gaming since 2020, I have been using it for work and for gaming (I dont really like consoles). But recently I have been noticing that the components can't put up with more recent games, and additionally, one of the RAM sockets stopped working, probably because of a chip/pin problem. So I am thinking to change my laptop, I know that for gaming and major things a deskopt computer is better BUT, since I my work will involve moving a lot I need to have the advantage of a laptop.

With that in mind, I have come here to the forums of Reddit to ask recommendations on laptops in which I can play video games, because I know is a difficult market with a lot of overpriced and easy-to-break products. My budget is around 1,300 USD. Any recommendations? (If it isnt absurdly heavy even better haha)

Recommend me a good desk top. Affordable

Hi! My brothers computer of over 10 years died on him. I would like to surprise him with a good one. I just need the base, not the monitor. He is not a gamer, honestly just looks at videos, movies, sports stuff and job searching. I know, lame. But he doesn't need anything fancy. Could I find one for 300 or less?

Internet is working great on all devices except for my PC

PC speeds are capping around 35mbps (this is ethernet, on wifi it was around 20mbps) meanwhile if I do a speed test on my phone right next to the PC they'll be at around 500mbps.

I checked all the drivers and they're up to date, even uninstalled the network drivers and reinstalled them.

There aren't any battery saving options toggled on so those shouldn't be throttling it.

I don't have anything else running in the background when doing the speed test.

As for specs my computer uses a Realtek Gaming 2.5GbE Family Controller, I'm really not the greatest with computers so not sure what other hardware could be contributing to this.

This is about all the troubleshooting I've done, if anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated.

Advice for a cheap gaming pc, trying to get something to build myself, but pre-built works too.

I'm currently trying to get a new pc for gaming, coding, and (maybe) for video producing. Right now I'm stuck using a laptop from 14 years ago that was ported to chrome, so I can't really do too much, and linux is pretty frustrating to work with.

“Gaming” laptop recs for $1000

Need a laptop for school, Ableton, and my unimpressive game collection. I’m not THAT demanding about performance. The most strain put on this device will probably be lightly modded Skyrim. I’m not picky about graphics, frame rate, aesthetics, or weight. I’m not even that picky about battery life. My main priority is computer lifespan because I won’t be able to afford a new one for a while. This will be a gift from a family member so $1000 is a strict maximum.

Anything is better than my current PC, which won’t even run Valheim unless the graphics are turned down.
