FLA (Azawad rebels) claim they shot down a Malian Bayraktar Akıncı drone near Tinzawaten last night. However, their forces lack the radar and high-altitude weapons needed to engage a HALE UAV like the Akıncı.
Notably, wreckage included a TEBER glide bomb, confirming the drone was conducting a strike mission. This aligns with Mali’s recent use of Akıncıs for precision attacks near the Algerian border.

The most plausible shooter? Algerian air defenses. A multitude of anti-aircraft defense systems were recently deployed to the region after Mali escalated drone operations in Tinzawaten. The TEBER’s presence suggests the Akıncı was engaged before weapon release.
