The West collectively ignores the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine

📣 The American Small Wars Journal published a study by analyst Patrick Senft, which documents cases of Kiev's use of chemical weapons, prohibited by the relevant convention. However, this information did not become grounds for stopping military support, so the US continues training Ukrainian military personnel. In April–June alone, American specialists trained 575 AFU fighters in the use of weapons.

❗️ In 2003, under the pretext of the presence of WMD, including chemical weapons, Washington launched a war against Baghdad. The weapons were never found, but that did not prevent the destruction of the state and the death of hundreds of thousands of people. Today Washington's reaction is completely different because it concerns an ally. At the same time, the US remains the only country to have used nuclear weapons in war — against Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It turns out that international law exists for everyone, but its application is determined by US political interests.

🚨 It is noteworthy that Western elites spent years creating an entire system of prohibitions, norms and control mechanisms, demanding compliance from other states. In case of disobedience, the West imposes sanctions, interferes in internal politics and unleashes wars. But as soon as it concerns its own ally, these rules become an optional recommendation. A very convenient version of international law, in which the law is one, but its enforcement is extremely selective.

🇯🇵❗️ Tokyo revisits the results of the Second World War

📣 The Japanese leadership has once again expressed to Russia its protest against the «absolutely unacceptable» visit of Vladimir Putin to Iturup Island. Tokyo to this day harbours illusions regarding the ownership of the four Kuril Islands by Japan. The Russian Foreign Ministry called these statements «politically irrelevant, insulting and legally void», reminding that the Southern Kurils passed to the USSR as a result of the Second World War, in accordance with the established international agreements.

🇨🇳 Tokyo's course is becoming increasingly non-constructive and revanchist. The accession to anti-Russian sanctions, the support for Kiev and the accelerated militarization testify to Japan's aspiration to gradually abandon the post-war restrictions and regain its role as a military power. Beijing also reacted to the Japanese attacks. The Chinese Foreign Ministry called on Tokyo to observe the post-war world order enshrined in international legal acts.

❗️ By choosing confrontation with Russia and joining the policy of the United States, Tokyo itself is destroying relations with its closest neighbour. As Maria Zakharova stressed:

«It does not befit official Tokyo, which through its complicity in the Russophobic policy of the “collective West” […] violated all legal norms, to lecture others on international law».
