The main thing all right-wing organizations need is to drop the commitment to "merit" and embrace nepotism. You are loyal to our guys and you believe what we believe. LOYALTY. That is the test of merit.

"Meritocracy" always slides into "openness to internal criticism"—i.e. questioning the party line—which invariably becomes "openness to external criticism". This eventually degenerates into a kind of diffuse openness to any perspective, and before you know it, Rishi Sunak is your PM.

NO. Nepotism.

That is what has built all of civilization, from the insurgency all the way up to the empire.

The problem with debating policy with people who use policy as a cynical control tool is that they can abandon the ideological position when reality starts to hurt them more than you.

These people never believed in "renewables," that's stupid. The point was to make you suffer under a manufactured common cause. Problems on purpose for social engineering.

"Winning the debate" isn't the point: their ideological justifications are post hoc to their agenda. They can simply hold different positions because power, not ideas, is what you use to rule.

Rob Grant, co-creator of Red Dwarf, has died. This is unexpected and very sad news. He was clearly an extremely talented man - the show was never as good after he left - and after 30 years he had just written a new novel to add to the franchise. By all accounts he was a warm and kind man, beloved by the many people he worked with throughout a busy and varied career.

^ I remember someone doing a similar thing in the late 2000s regarding climate change hysteria. The proponents of that had mapped it onto Christian foundations so that it would "play well" with Western sensibilities. Interesting.

The war against Iran is already unpopular. It's only going to get worse once reality sets in. You don't have to support this just because Trump has done some good on immigration. On the contrary, you won't be able to defend those gains if you burn your political capital on this.
