‘People named their kids after us!’ Lost’s Penny and Desmond on being one of TV’s best ever romances
Sonya Walger and Henry Ian Cusick created a love so magical that they’re responsible for what’s widely regarded as the greatest TV episode of all time – not to mention inspiring a fan to get a full leg tattoo of their faces
So, I'm about to finish season five on my first watch and I have a lot to say. (SPOILERS, SO MUCH SPOILERS)
Many things, quite a few. I don't really know where to begin.
1. I don't really understand the twist they gave Locke. He starts out as someone more analytical, practical, a hunter, but then they reveal he was an office worker, that his life had nothing to do with that, and season after season he falls more in love with the island and makes more decisions that go against the group's grain. I understand why they needed someone in the "main group" (Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid and Locke) to counter Jack, but this reversion to the trope where the one who initially seems more logical and rational turns out to be the most emotional doesn't quite work for me here.
2. There comes a point where the way they interweave the present with flashbacks and fast-forwards starts to feel contrived. Is the first episode the only one where this doesn't happen?
3. I'm surprised that Desmond is presented as someone important, someone who was already on the island, someone who knew Jack before he landed there... And then he spends a whole season with Hugo and Charlie instead of Jack. It is only in season 4 that he seems to regain his role among the protagonists.
4. So... what's the popular consensus among the fandom about the smoke monster, the Widmore crew, and the time travel?
5. The way they killed Ana Lucía and Rousseau was disrespectful.
If I remember more, I will leave it in the replies!

which episode starts on beach serene for a while then airplane crashes?
Hi everyone,
I watched it long time ago. But I remember there was an episode (not the tv show pilot but imo should've been the pilot) where it starts with the view from the island beach so serene looking out to the sea. Stays like that for a while but the viewer doesn't notice that from far away in the sky an object is coming closer closer. and that eventually apperas to be the plane and it crashes on the beach.
Amazing scene which I really think should've been the pilot to the whole show.
Anyway I wanted to see it again but can't find where it is
any help lost nerds?

Just finished.....so many questions
First of all, it took me about a year to watch the show beginning to end. It went off Netflix right in the middle of me watching, and I was working a lot during that time and didn't have time to watch/switch to another streaming service. I was right in the middle of season 5 and when I resumed I barely remembered anything. I was writing down questions while watching the show hoping to answer them as I went along, or ask them when the show was finished. I am sorry if some of these make little to no sense or have zero context, I barely remember why I wrote them down but I will ask them anyway. Feel free to answer as many as you want (or none of them).
\- What vision did Locke have with Boone? Like his babysitter broke her back?
\- Why was Jack so upset and wanting to die? Who was in the coffin? (I believe it was Locke right?) What newspaper article?
\- What boat is that? Why did Naomi say that all the people on the plane are dead?
\- So Ben and Danielle had sex and made Alex? When did that happen?
\- Why did Desmond have the vision of Charlie and Claire getting on a helicopter?
\- Why was Penny on the television? She just magically found the signal? I love how Charlie could draw in a pen on his wet hand.
\- Why was Michael mad Ben jammed the signal?
\- The lottery numbers......some dude in the mental institution used to mutter them? Why? I am still not sure I grasp the entire meaning of the numbers. I know Desmond used to input them and they were also associated with the names written in the cave? I dunno....
\- What the hell vaccine did they give Claire?
\- How did Claire have the accident with her mom?
\- Why does Ben have two names?
\- The chick whose helicopter crashed...how did she end up in a tree? (I don't even remember the context to this question, it makes sense that someone who crashed a helicopter would end up in a tree lol)
\- Weird dude in a bathrobe that Hurley saw? And then a slipper? Why was Hurley in a mental institution? How did he win the lottery with those numbers? Why were the numbers on the outside of the hatch?
\- The whole experiments with pregnant women/stealing kids thing makes no sense to me.....I briefly Googled this at seems to be a contentious point, I can research this on my own.
\- Why did Kate steal the phone from Jack?
\- When Miles and Dan landed on the island, why weren't Jack and Kate asking them questions?
\- Why did Ben say the team was coming to harm them? I forget why Charlie said it wasn't Penny's boat.....who originally told them that?
\- Why is Ben traveling everywhere? (after he left the island). Why was Nadia murdered? Wasn't she killed earlier?
\- Why did Charles Widmore stage a plane crash? (maybe this answer is obvious, he didn't want people finding the island). Was the the one that sent Charlotte and Miles?
\- Ben wanted to "move" the island to protect them from who exactly?
\- Who was that person on the deathbed in Faraday's apartment?
\- When Ben showed up all battered and bruised to the plane, how come Jack didn't ask him what happened? (this one really bothered me for some reason)
\- There was some Asian guy (Miles I am pretty sure) that was in some black kid's room. What the hell was that about?
\- What was the ash that people used to fend off the Smoke Monster?
\- The statue of Tawaret, I could have sworn there was an episode where Sawyer and all of them were going through time warps and there was a full statue. Maybe not all that surprising, but what year was that supposed to be?
\- There was a scene where Jacob and the Man in Black were talking, and Man was saying how he was going to kill Jacob, and we could see a ship sailing in the background. I always assumed that was Black Rock. Or was it some other ship? Black Rock crashed during that storm with Richard on board......so maybe not?
\- Man in Black's offer to Richard (Ricardo) "will always be open." What was the offer?
\- Why did Locke tell Jack he was in a plane crash with his dad, and that is what caused his broken back? Perhaps

none of that mattered since it was the flash-sideways timeline?
\- Why did Mother think the other people were bad? And what language was she speaking to the biological mom of Jacob and Man in Black?
\- The wheel that turns the light.....not sure I understand the whole light/wheel thing. But then again that is just the mystical part of the show.
I realize those are so many questions so I apologize. I give the show 8/10. Any show that makes you think is a good show imo. There is a supernatural element that you just sort of have to accept in order to enjoy the entire story. I don't think the ending was as bad as people made it sound, that was the only thing I heard about the show before watching it. I haven't watched the uncut version, it was super long and I had to go to bed last night lol. Is there even audio in that version? I watched like 45 seconds of it and it was just visual cuts.

Worth watching if I know how it ends?
So I remember this TV show growing up but was too young to appreciate it. One time I heard how it ended and that just put me off ever watching it. I don't know exactly how it plays out but I know that >!Everyone was dead from the very beginning!<

Finally watched The Constant for the first time
okay wow that an intense episode. i had stopped watching for a couple months because i genuinely didn’t have time and now i do and picked the show back up again now that i have time.
boy oh boy that was such a good episode and it’s probably my favorite episode in the entire show so far, Desmond’s such an interesting character and then having Daniel Faraday there too was just so good.
I also caught onto the Black Rock and Hanso name being dropped at the auction so i’m very interested to see what happens next in Season 4.
The writing was just so good this episode i’m shocked honestly, everyone played their parts incredibly well.
now onto the rest of S4

S4E7 - Can’t believe it
can’t believe Michael’s back 😭 i love the storyline with Desmond and Sayid so much it’s so fire honestly.
I also really liked the Jin and Sun storyline too, and was very surprised to see that Jin wasn’t there to see the birth of his kid…? But he also says it wasn’t his kid in the flash forward, then Hurley pops up. THEN they show that he’s dead…? this is all so much honestly i’m trying to make sense of it but it’s great
im guessing that the scenes with Jin in this episode were flash BACKS and the scenes with Sun are flash FORWARDS, but no way he’s dead 😭 man
