What do you think about lost philosophically on sci fi vs fantasy

This show starts and eventually becomes a sci fi show with dharma initiative and the numbers, But the true nature of the source is very mystical and fantasy like, it's a fantasy show obviously but how do the source and the numbers connect? does the numbers control the source or the other way? because there are some things that have a hard time being sci fi, like no one can find the cave for example, how does the protector actually change destinies?

What if the recurring patterns that is the numbers are actually controlling the source, and source has to obey them?

Do you think we’ll soon see a 4K Remaster box set for LOST in the coming years?

With “The Sopranos” finally getting the 4K Physical remaster treatment this winter, what do you guys think the odds are for LOST getting the same treatment someday? I think the best time for it would be 2029 to celebrate the 25th anniversary, and I hope that it is a collection similar to the current collectors edition with bonus content and physical goodies! Lmk what you guys think.

EDIT: Did some research, and aside from the point that Disney is the owner of the series, I never considered that a remaster of LOST would also require an extensive recreation of the cgi moments in 4K, which were all originally completed in SD. So a release is probably unlikely unless some executive in Disney is really passionate about LOST 😭

So glad I didnt listen to the haters!

Hi,

I(M32) just finished the last episode of Lost 7 minutes ago.

Everyone I talked to about watching this show laughed at me, telling me I would give up before the end of season 4 or anything along these lines.

Couldnt be more happy I didnt listen, what a masterpiece! F**king bawled my eyes out at the end 😂

Thats all I wanted to say, freaking great show! Now on the post-tv show ending depression!

Cheers!

What 2 Male Characters would you say are emotionally the strongest and who would you say is emotionally the weakest?

Two Strongest-

Sawyer and Sayid. Sawyer was able to endure more then enough beatings and being tortured by bamboo to show how tough he was physically and maybe he wasn’t the most positive person but he was always tough on the inside and out in my opinion. Sayid was a Soldier and usually those guys are pretty tough minded.

Weakest-

Michael. He was so mentally unstable that he thought killing two innocent women to get Walt back was the best option and then he tried to kill himself when his son didn’t want anything to do with him which shows you he really can’t handle living without his kid so to me that’s a weakness.

Just finished watching…

Pretty much gonna start from the beginning again. I feel like I missed so much on my first watch through. I normally watch tv while I’m doing other stuff and half way through I realised you can’t do that with lost. You need to give actual real attention.

why Locke did not explain to Jack about what happened to him in S1?

this question sometimes came to my head but i never posted it here

Locke and Jack saw the world in a very different way, and they argued a lot in the island, so, i wonder, if Locke knew Jack was a doctor, why he did not tell him about his paralysis and why the island let him walk again?

in fact, Locke only tells Walt, others like The Others knew because Bakunin made the research

is there something i'm missing here?

Locke, backgammon, Jacob, MiB

Does anyone think that lockes explanation of backgammon to Walt in s1e1(p2) is exactly the game that Jacob and MiB played on the island as children? I’m sure this has been posited before but a cursory search of the sub doesn’t yield any recent posts. I think his simplistic explanation of the game is a simplistic explanation of Jacob vs MiB.

Letting go

There was a very interesting thread yesterday about the ending. One of the complaints about the ending was that not all the important characters were in the Church.

To that I replied that IMO, we are seeing the finale through Jack's eyes. That doesn't reduce the flash sideways of the rest of the characters by any means. But the "letting go" scene was between Christian and Jack and the people in the Church were the people who were most important *to Jack*.

For instance, if we would have seen the finale through Locke's eyes, there's no doubt in my mind that Helen would have been in the Church and he would have moved on with her. And I think that his letting go scene would have been with his father.

So it got me thinking about the other characters and who their letting go scene would be with.

Some characters that I thought about:

Kate - with her mother.

Charlie - with Liam

Sawyer - with Anthony Cooper

Ben - Probably his father, but Charles Widmore could also be an option.

Then I thought about Sayid:

I think his letting go scene would be with Ben.

But I do think that he would move on with Nadia and not Shannon.

I wasn't a fan of him moving on with Shannon. It makes sense if we're seeing from Jack's POV and for nostalgia, which is why I think that's who Sayid moved on with in the show. But from Sayid's perspective, I'm not buying it.

Basically for two reasons:

After Shannon and Nadia both died, Sayid mentions a few times the love of his life. Most of the time it can be left up to interpretation because both Nadia and Shannon died in his arms. But then he says this to Locke in season 5:

SAYID: It's only because I left the Island that I was finally able to marry the woman I loved. We spent nine months together—the best nine months of my life, John. That's what I know in my heart.

For me that's the ultimate proof that Nadia was the love of his life.

The second reason is that Naveen Andrews did not sell me in the scene right before Shannon is killed and she begs him to believe in her. Maggie Grace was fantastic but Naveen did not convince me.

So...what who do you think some other characters let go and moved on with had we seen the finale from their perspective?

Lost rewatch

I started my annual rewatch last week (on Season 1: Episode 7 "The Moth").

I used to rewatch previous seasons waiting for the new season to start.

Been rewatching the whole show on DVD and eventually bluray since 2010.

Anyone else still as borderline obsessed with the show like I am?
