Just finished Lost, thoughts
I watched a yt short about it few months back and decided to watch the whole series, best decision! The first 3 seasons are the strongest and whom I enjoyed the most. After that it became more of a mess that they didn't know how to solve. When I reached season 6, I had some trouble finishing it.
I watched a video during watching said that J. J Abrams is more interested in having a mystery rather than having to explain it. I think for a lot of it. It was just interesting ideas to implement that kinda folded in on itself as the story went on cause they didn't plan out the whole story. (Correct me if that is wrong tho)
I never had a truly favorite character but I really liked Locke and Sayid. Locke had the most interesting storyline and Sayid really reasonated with me emotionally
While watching I was constantly wondering what that famous bad ending was that i constantly heard about and... I kinda liked it! Cried pretty much the whole episode lol. I never got the impression they were dead all along.
How things were resolved bothered me but knowing that it made the watch easier and I cannot imagine how frustrating it must have been as it aired!
They set up a whole supernatural thing with Walt too and then...nothing. Did they have to let him go cause of child labour laws? Do let me know, I was so interested in what they would do with him.
How they killed off Danielle!! Not even a big confrontation with Ben after she got her daughter back?? Biggest fumble in my opinion.
Also, I noticed a racial pattarn with black characters....They all died. Call me crazy but I got more and more frustrated as it happened! They were just used as plot devices and then discarded! I wanted to see more of Mr. Eko, Michael and Walt. Also the female partner of the russian eye patch guy and the rescue leader that Locke killed (innocent woman btw, gets let go too fast for my taste) The driver Matthew, R.I.P lance reddick

I have loads of more thoughts but this is already the biggest paragraph I've ever written
Overal, bunch of frustrations but also a lot of enjoyment that I got despite it's flaws
Will probably never rewatch it again but I'm glad I did watch. I give it a 7,5

S3 SPOILERS Claire’s parent situation
I’m a little confused about the whole situation with Claire’s parents, in season 1 when it flashes back to her and Thomas she says “my mom would disown me” and Thomas says “she basically has already” is this just a rude way of him saying your mom is dead 😭😭 also when Christians in Australia before he dies he goes to the doorstep of a woman and says “she’s my daughter I have a right to see her” i guess this is supposed to be Claire’s mother but if Claire’s mother is brain dead in a hospital how does that make sense, unless it’s Claire’s… aunt? But i didn’t think it was the same actress. Can someone clear this up because I am throughly confused.

Rewatching Through the Looking Glass and thought it was interesting Jack shouting at Naomi not to talk to Ben. It's an interesting parallel to Dogen telling Sayid not to allow the MiB to speak, or it will already be too late.
All Ben says is "Hello, I don't think we've been introduced," and Jack shuts him straight down, knowing he's a master manipulator. Much like the MiB.
Also find it interesting how much of the information is obviously based on legend. The dagger is probably my favourite part. It was used to kill Mother, so Dogen says to use it to kill MiB. And MiB tries to get Richard to use it to kill Jacob. But it's just a dagger.

Eveyone hating on Kate
I'm reading the First Time Watcher threads from time to time as I am also watching the show for the first time (mid season 6 right now), and I can't help but notice all the hatred directed at Kate. EVERY FREAKING EPISODE there will be at least one person to find a reason to hate on her, even if she appears like 10 seconds in the episode.
Why is so ? I can't find any good reason. She has always been a really good friend for Claire, Sun, Sayid or other people at the camp. She has always been loyal, helpful and incredibly determined.
So please can anybody help me understand the hate, or I will just assume that this is pure sexism and hatred stemming from the fact that Kate can't decide between Jack and Sawyer (oh wow, an human being can love TWO PEOPLE at the same time ??)

About to watch it for the 5th time..
Seeing all the posts on here all the time, I’ve started to miss the characters. 3 of the 4 times I’ve watched it is because someone close to me had never seen it, I’m like no no no, you’re watching it now. Lol. I’m gonna watch it on my own this time.
Something kinda fun, my son’s name is Lochlan, I knew we’d call him Loch too. His second middle name is John, which I wanted for a number of reasons. A bonus reason was for John Locke, even if in a different order. Idk it just makes me happy. 🥰

Common Lost tropes that annoy the crap out of you?
I'm on my rewatch and just started season 3, and any time a character is imprisoned/captured and refuses to eat or drink until they "get some answers" or whatever, it drives me mad because it's so pointless and stupid and seems to happen every single time. Though it was pretty funny to see Jack refusing Juliet's home-cooked grilled cheese sandwiches while Sawyer is forced to solve a rube goldberg machine for fish biscuits and bear kibble lol...

Miss my first watch

Jack&Sayid friendship in season 6 is so underrated
Maybe it's cause people don’t like the temple plot, maybe for other reasons. But this is one of the most overlooked dynamic storylines. let me recap off the top of my head, obviously spoilers.
Jack did not hesitate to swallow the pill that was prepared for Sayid. He suspected that it contained poison. He knew he would rather risk himself than let Sayid die.
As a response, Sayid showed full trust in Jack. Said -I’ll take this pill if you ask me to-. He put his life in his friend's hands.
Before that, Jack tried so hard to save Sayid, and before that he fought alongside him, and consoled Sayid in s5 and said "this will save you". he was wrong but the intentions matter.
Jack also never judged Sayid for shooting Ben in a resentful way. He had empathy for what Sayid has been through.
As a massive response to all these, Sayid sacrificed his life so that Jack can do what he has to do. No words needed here…
I just think this relationship, which had a great setup in season 1-2 but ruined in other seasons, really shined in season 6. It went so underappreciated. Well, at least back in the day. People used to pit them against each other too. They still do.…I never understood that. If I watched the same show, they were mostly respectful and helpful for each other.

As much as I love Sawyer, wouldn't he still get a bad ending after The End?
Not only he is still a wanted criminal who has scammed several innocent people during his quest for revenge (I mean, he was willing to scam the married couple who did nothing wrong to him and only changed his mind when he found out they had a child and realized he would become no better than Anthony Cooper if he scammed them), but if the Australian authorities ever found out that he killed Frank, he would be extraditated to Australia, convicted of murder and sentenced to a long time behind bars, if not outright life without parole. Sure, he was tricked into thinking that Frank was responsible for scamming his parents and felt remorse after he found out that he was innocent, but I don't think Frank's family would be fine with that. They might forgive him, but they would likely still want him to be held accountable.
Sure, I know that Sawyer does eventually get a happy ending by moving on with Juliet and the other Survivors in the church, but something tells me that his life outside the Island will not be that great.
