Sayid in the submarine
Why did Sayid run away with the bomb from the MIB in the submarine? Wouldn't it have had the same effect if he had simply thrown it away? He would have survived then, too. Wasn't his sacrifice essentially pointless?

First time watcher, I just watched season 5 episode 12.
What an insane episode.
The flashbacks showing Ben taking baby Alex from Rousseau were really interesting, especially when Widmore told him to kill her and Ben just… didn’t. Didn’t expect that at all. It definitely explains a lot more about their rivalry.
The present timeline was wild too. Ben going after Penny and then Desmond beating the hell out of him was honestly satisfying. I thought Ben was actually going to kill her for a second.
Then on the island Ben just casually shoots Caesar out of nowhere which felt very on brand for him.
The whole smoke monster/temple scene was the biggest WTF though. When it started showing Ben those flashes of Alex and then “Alex” showed up and told him he has to do whatever Locke says now… that was creepy as hell.
Also something feels really off about Locke right now. The way he suddenly knows things and is acting so calm about everything makes me think something else is going on.
My current theory is either the island brought him back somehow… or that’s not really Locke.
I am confused about that the point of that extra group that Frank meets and then the woman assault him with his gun. Like this specific plot line just seems random.
This show is getting insane.

Season 5, episode “LaFleur” is the best.
The episode “LaFleur” from season 5 is probably the best episode of the season, a solid 10/10. I loved the little group of Juliet, Sawyer, Miles and Jin and the new life they built together. And not to mention the flashbacks, they were incredible!!
What do you think? I think season 5 might actually be my favorite!

Beginning to End
I just finished a 2 week or so rewatch of the series beginning to end. First time I've watched it since it aired. Then and now it is such a beautiful wonderous show - characters, scenery, music, tension, levity - it is such a beautiful opera and am so glad I was able to dedicate the time to it. Honestly gonna wait a week or so to let it breathe and then GO AGAIN!!! LOL

What's the absolute WORST line of dialogue in the entire series?
For me it would have to be Jack "If you've got.something to watch Cyndi, go watch it!" From Stranger in a Strange Land. Worst line, worst episode.
Context: Jack being held in the polar bear cages by the others, having just been forced to perform surgery on Ben. He sees Cyndi the air hostess from flight 815 living amongst the others (along with missing kids from the flight).
Jack: Whatre you doing here?!
Cyndi (sounding confused) :We're here to watch.
Jack becomes frustrated, then yells it at Cyndi.
Cyndi's responce is the most pointlessly ominous answer ever. Why is she confused and hesitant to answer this question?! What good is such a painfully vague answer. It makes nonsense to.me that she wouldnt just mention a trial, she couldnt realistically expect to gain any understanding of what was going on from an answer like that.
Its like the writers tried to piss viewers off.

Season 6
I know a lot of people have super mixed opinions about season 6, but personally I love it (especially episodes like Ab Atereno and Across the Sea) because we learn so much about the island lore. I just wanted to know other people's opinions on it, and why people seem to hate it so much.
(Also, I love the Charlie & Desmond dynamic in the sideways flashes)

"So why do you think he's a Marshal?" - "Because he had a clip-on badge. I took that too. Thought it was cool."

Why are The Others So High and Mighty?
Rewatching the show for the first time in a while. Is it just because they’re basically a cult, and part of that is believing you are doing something righteous?
They just seem…surprised that the castaways consider them enemies. The Others have killed people in the tail section, kidnapped Claire and Charlie, tried to murder Charlie, killed Scott or Steve, kidnapped Walt, got Michael to kill Ana Lucia…what do they expect?

The flashback in season 6, episode 1 is one of my favorites !
I loved the flash-sideways in season 6 episode 1 where we see what the passengers’ lives would look like if the plane had never crashed on the island. We get to see characters like Boone, Charlie and Desmond again, and honestly I loved it. I think it’s one of my favorite flashbacks of the series.
Hugo saying he’s the luckiest guy alive even though he always thought he was cursed was such a great moment. And you can see that if the plane had never crashed, Charlie probably would’ve been exposed for the drugs and ended up with the police.
We also see Bernard and Rose together, happy as usual. Kate with the marshal. Boone actually survives and goes back home. Locke still has his leg problem, but my favorite moment in that flashback was the interaction between Boone and Locke.
Honestly, that duo isn’t talked about enough, but it’s one of my favorites. I loved their moments together in season 1, and seeing them interact again in that scene was really great.
What do you guys think?
