Just got back to Donetsk after a couple of months off. Was about to make a video about how peaceful it seems. But then the railway station is bombed killing a 20 year old woman.
This Donetsk school, over the road from my old apartment, was bombed by Ukraine last year. Killing a teacher. Went by there today. It’s undergoing major refurbishment. As war continues to rage, Donetsk is preparing for peace. Even thought it’s still too dangerous for schools to open.

The real madness of this counter offensive is that Ukrainian soldiers are being slaughtered on the killing fields, trying to ‘liberate’ people in Donbass who don’t want to be liberated.

I asked a dozen people near the front line today. The responses I got…

“Who do they want to liberate us from? Ourselves?… We don’t need such liberators… we only want to be liberated by Russia…. They (Ukraine) already liberated us from our peaceful lives.”

Full report coming soon.
This Donestk woman’s front door was shattered by ukr shelling in Feb. Another missile went through her roof yesterday.

I asked her if she wanted to be liberated by the ukr counter offensive.

“We are Ukrainians. And we love Ukraine. But not the kind it is now. They are fascists now. Zelensky in particular.”

As Russian authorities confirm 17 dead due to the Nova Kakhovka dam collapse, Tatiana Savitskaya, an aid worker who has been to the affected region, tells me some died because they were hiding in basements from shelling, when the water came.
As once again Europeans are slaughtering eachother in brutal trench warfare, a field of poppies grows around a line of trenches in Donbass.

▶️ Press TV's @JohnnyJamesMiller although Ukraine’s assaults on the frontline have not yet succeeded, there is apprehension that the main force of Ukraine’s counteroffensive is still to come and may achieve some success in the future.

▶️ Donetsk residents react to counteroffensive by Ukraine

@JohnnyJamesMiller reports from Donetsk.

I went to Mariupol a couple of days ago. It was a surreal experience. From whole neighbourhoods, a year ago, resembling post apocalyptic wastelands to renewal…
“Do people here want to be liberated by Ukraine?”

“What? War and Nazism again?”

A few interviews. I love it when people break into song mid interview…
