The woman on the right told me she had previously been wounded by a sniper and recently suffered concussion from a nearby shell. It’s damn nerve racking in these places. Crazy that civilians still live there. Outskirts of Donetsk.

This is how, Natasha, a Donbass kindergarten teacher, explains the war to her class.

I first met Natasha last summer, at the funeral of one of her 6 year old students killed by Ukrainian shelling.

Natasha’s brother was also killed last year at the front.

“When they rose the question of language, I said immediately that they’ll be war. You can’t do this in Donbass.”

Like many, Natasha says she predicted the war in 2014…

“My husband comes out in the morning and breaks the ice with an axe.”

Natasha also has a plunge pool. (I’m a big fan of plunge pools)

Ukriane just shelled the centre of Donetsk. The building I was in shook. And the glass shattered a few meters from me. 3 shells along Shevchenka blvd. One directly outside a busy supermarket. I haven’t seen casualties yet. Busy civilian area. Terror bombing. Will upload footage soon
