There is a myth that circulates about "conservatives not being technical." In our experience that is totally untrue. We prove it untrue here all the time. Through this group we have identified tons of Patriots who previously worked in highly technical careers, electrical engineers who were trained by the U.S. Armed forces, technical graduates and high-tech business owners. In our own anonymous survey, more than half of everyone here rated themselves as "5 out of 10," with some decent computer experience, able to find their way around with computers.
The time has arrived for Americans to start moving away from 'big tech' ecosystems, to get more involved, and start building, and re-building our own technical solutions across the board. Whether that means changing cell phone carriers, learning about Ham Radio, or what ever steps we take to achieve digital self-responsibility, on this channel we advocate for we the people and encourage everyone to get more involved with their technology, instead of running away from it!

Now is the time to move away from 'big tech' computer operating systems like Microsoft Windows.
On this channel, we teach Patriots how to use Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and the Linux Operating System. Linux is a complete replacement for Windows, it is free, it has been developed for 30 years, and it is the future of computing.

Since the focus here is moving away from big tech, will importing email from my MS live account to Thunderbird be counterproductive? I dont want to compromise a new clean Mint system

I just got started with Linux. Love Ubuntu, trying Mint next on another computer. My windows days are limited.
I used 1password on windows. Found there is an install for Linux too. Using it on Linux, but its not FOSS.

Hey guys, what about Onstar and tracking even if you do not purchase the service. I dont subscribe but They send reports each month and the light next to onstar in my car is green. Any way to disconnect? Seems like a good way to track people!!!

Whatβs the best way to do backups? My fear is my kid goes in to my drive and accidentally deletes some folders without me knowing. Then later I back it up and now my backup is missing that data too and itβs forever lost.

Rsnapshot is a good one. Keeps every version of every file added or changed. Does not delete files from the archive. Uses hard links and a rotation script. You set the number of daily, monthly, and yearly copies you want to keep. Can work on a local USB drive as well as over your network to any rsync capable machine.

No social media platform is 100% safe. However, TG is pretty good comparatively - WAY better than FB/Twitter. This is where many patriots have landed. JP and the admins have worked hard to create a great environment on this channel where people can learn and encourage each other. I'm sure it's not an easy job keeping this channel the way it is.
