Pretty much what I did after reading โ€œPermanent Recordโ€ by Snowden. Nuked FB, IG, and Goodreads on the same day. Didnโ€™t bother saving anything which at the time seemed a bit extreme, but that book freaked me out and I bolted.๐Ÿ˜‚Now Iโ€™m here learning about reclaiming my online privacy and freedom.๐Ÿ˜Ž

God bless you as well Jeffrey and all the admins on this beautiful Sunday before Thanksgiving. May we all count our blessings this week and be grateful to the Lord who rains down His love even in the midst of troubles. I count this channel and group of people as a blessing to me that I am especially thankful for this week of harvest time. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆƒ๐ŸŒพ

I chose to convert an old unused laptop, and wanted to completely nuke the Mac OS, so there was really nothing on it that I needed to save. I flipped the switch to Linux cold turkey by meticulously following the instructions from a video linked in this chat. Sounds like you are approaching it carefully. I'm a fan of measure twice (or more), cut once.๐Ÿ˜Š

I have an HP 530 that I would like to load Linux on. I have no real idea what version would work best. Any ideas?

If you are converting a Mac and liked the system on that, elementary OS may be a good one to check out. I installed that this past week, onto a 10 year old ASUS that wasnโ€™t being used. I chose elementary because I really like my MacBook.

I have a new 2017 laptop. Is it still acceptable to remove windows and install Linux?

I wonder if the concern is more that lines are internet/cellular based. My husband (an old-school phoneman) and I were talking about this last night. Our land line was disconnected and ported into a digital line via Comcast. If internet or power goes down, so does our phone. True land lines would continue to operate unless there were deeper issues with the carrier (AT&T, etc.).

I backed up and deleted last fall/winter, canโ€™t really remember. That tells you how much it bothered me ๐Ÿ˜‚ Do not miss it one bit.

Have been with this group since it started. I have Ubuntu on a desktop, Linux Mint on a laptop, and now I cannot stand to get on my wife's desktop with Windows 10. Linux is easier to use and more responsive, just takes time to get use to the change

Any gamers out there . Just wanted to mention i have tried Proton on 3 windows based games . 3d chess , Poker Night at the Inventory and Table Top Racing . All worked flawlessly on Ubuntu 20.04 . I'm using the 470 video driver with a gtx1070 6 gig card . Talk about being able to totally give the finger to Microsoft. It's priceless

Thank you for this. Iโ€™ve been a Microsoft Developer for over 20 years, recently developing Python for Linux platforms. This is great info.
On this Telegram channel, we teach Patriots how to defeat tyrannical 'big tech' organizations like Microsoft (Windows), Apple, Google, and more, by learning to use Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and the Linux Operating System.

We go beyond the concept of 'alternate social media platforms', to the place where you need to be to truly take back control -- the operating system level -- and show you how to get complete control over your technology, once and for all. Linux is the future!

If you are using the Bill Gates-designed Microsoft Windows on your laptop or desktop, here's a partial list of some of the updates that were pushed (forced) on to your computer THIS MONTH ALONE. do you have any idea what the updates Microsoft constantly forces on to your computer are doing to your files, and your digital life?

There's a better way, friends. On this channel we teach you how to use Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and switch to the Linux Operating System. Linux is the future, and it is Digital Freedom!

@Jeffrey_Peterson
Friends, this morning's Quiz refreshed our memories about the problem: We feel like we can't trust the bloated, inefficient, virus and big-ridden Microsoft Windows Operating System to run at the core of our digital lives. As one person responded, "we want out of the corrupt technology systems!"

And so now, we continue to bring you the solution here on the Jeff.pro channel. Our community teaches you about a whole new world for your technology, Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and the Linux Operating System. Linux is a complete replacement for Windows, it is free, (you can download it right now from any of the distro sites), Linux is a full-featured, complete set of software and tools that will get your digital life back on track, away from Microsoft and bring you to a place where you can move beyond 'big tech' control over your life and truly achieve Digital Freedom for your future.

We bring you bite-sized, quick lessons about switching to Linux every day, here on this channel. You can always ask questions of the more than 5,000 Patriots in our technology chat room: @jptchat or visit our Technology forums at https://forums.jeff.pro , we are here to help you along your Linux journey! It takes a while, give yourself some time, but you will feel better to get your digital life headed in the right direction once and for all!
