A team of Korean and American researchers has embedded robotics directly into clothing: the suit puts itself on without any help from hands or others.

💻 Soft, flexible tubes are built into the fabric. When pressurized with air, they expand and turn the clothing inside out along the shape of the body—like ivy. And the wearer doesn't even need to stand still.

"When I was riding a bicycle, it started to rain... and I thought it would be helpful if a raincoat could be put on automatically," says lead researcher Kim Nam Gyun.


A full suit takes about 10 seconds to put on. Potential applications include helping the elderly and people with disabilities, as well as fields where suiting up quickly without hands matters: semiconductor cleanrooms and emergency services requiring protective equipment.

Claude Spotted Signs of a Mini-Stroke

A Reddit user said he suddenly had trouble speaking while talking to Claude. He couldn't find the right words, and his speech stopped making sense. A few minutes later, his speech returned, allowing him to explain what had happened to the chatbot

Claude urged him to go to the hospital immediately. The man was home alone late at night, decided not to call an ambulance, and took an Uber to the emergency department.

Doctors performed an emergency evaluation and, according to the user, diagnosed him with a transient ischemic attack (TIA), also known as a mini-stroke. He was discharged the following day.

🔍 Claude didn't diagnose the condition. Instead, it recognized a potentially dangerous symptom and urged the user to seek medical attention. Sudden speech problems are one of the main warning signs of stroke. A TIA often precedes a major stroke, making rapid medical evaluation critical.

In the comments, the author said he lives in Australia. He also shared that after he was discharged, his wife—who had previously been skeptical of AI—asked him to "tell Claude thank you."

🔄 Scientists "Rejuvenated" Skin by Decades

Products formed by the reaction of sugars with proteins (glycation) accumulate in tissues with age and impair their function. This is especially harmful to collagen—the structural protein that supports the skin and blood vessels.

One glycation product is carboxymethyllysine (CML). Its levels are even used as a biomarker for estimating mortality risk. Until now, it was believed that removing CML from already damaged proteins was nearly impossible. However, researchers have created an enzyme called CMLase that can not only recognize CML, but also remove it. To obtain the right enzyme, the scientists screened more than 500 million enzyme variants.

🔍 In the experiment, CMLase was applied to thin sections of skin from an elderly donor. Overnight, the amount of CML in the skin dropped by more than 55%—to a level lower than that found in a sample from a 31-year-old person. In artery tissue from a 75-year-old donor, the level decreased by more than 70%.

For now, this is only the removal of a specific age-related type of damage in a test tube, not full-scale rejuvenation. It is also unknown whether the enzyme can work safely in a living organism.

Specialized platforms are paying ordinary people for the right to use their likeness in AI-generated ads, games, and series. The model works much like a stock photo library, with payouts ranging from $15 to $700 depending on the platform and licensing terms.

🎥 The market is growing alongside the popularity of microdramas-short vertical series made for smartphones. Clients select candidates by gender, age, and appearance, while AI generates their facial expressions, movements, clothing, and surroundings. No acting experience is required.

"Producers need attractive faces for leading roles, but they also need distinctive ones-for example, older people," said Camille Yan, chief marketing officer at ActID.

💡 COVID-19 Immune Memory May Help Fight Cancer

An experimental cancer vaccine based on the PROTEXI platform uses immune memory developed after COVID-19 infection or vaccination to help the immune system attack tumors more effectively. The approach was developed by researchers at Case Western Reserve University and Celloram.

How does it work?

Because cancer cells closely resemble healthy tissue, T cells often fail to recognize them as a threat. PROTEXI is designed to make the immune system target tumors more efficiently.

The vaccine is personalized for each patient. Researchers load a dendritic cell-the immune system's "scout"-with both tumor antigens and a fragment of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. The familiar viral signal activates helper T cells, which amplify the immune response and direct it toward the tumor antigen presented by the same dendritic cell.

🔍 In mice with melanoma and breast cancer, the vaccine slowed tumor growth and improved survival. Some surviving mice were later re-exposed to melanoma cells, and the growth of new tumors was largely suppressed, suggesting the development of anti-tumor immune memory.

The platform was also tested in mice carrying components of the human immune system from a donor vaccinated against COVID-19. In that model, the vaccine enhanced T-cell responses and reduced tumor burden. The developers hope to begin human clinical trials in the future.

🤖 A Student Built a Robot Turtle With AI to Find Microplastics in Water

For this project, 16-year-old Canadian Evan Budz won a $50,000 scholarship at the international science fair Regeneron ISEF.

Budz's robot was inspired by a snapping turtle he saw during a camping trip.

💻 The robot turtle moves autonomously along a set route and adjusts its diving depth. Its built-in holographic camera captures the pattern of light scattered by particles in the water. From that, the software reconstructs a 3D image of each particle, making it possible to identify microplastics.

💻 Anthropic Will Teach Claude to Design AI Chips

Anthropic is looking for a researcher with chip design experience to work on RL training of AI for processor design. Essentially, they will have to pass their own expertise on to Claude.

The AI will be trained to write code describing a chip's circuit, find flaws in it, and pick the optimal physical layout of the die.

💡 This will likely come in handy for the startup as it builds its own AI accelerator. In June, Clive Chan, one of the leading AI chip engineers, left OpenAI for Anthropic.

The company has also recently posted a Silicon Engineer opening. An in-house Anthropic team will handle the entire processor design chain, including design and testing—and Claude will be directly involved in the process.

💰 In July, Anthropic was in talks with Samsung about manufacturing a custom chip on a 2-nanometer process and asked SK Hynix for supplies to make its own semiconductors. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said the company had signed deals with both Korean firms, without providing further details.

🔥 After Being Paralyzed Twice, a Chinese Man Built a Mind-Controlled Wheelchair

In 2020, just two days before his wedding, Wang Ning was diagnosed with a 13 cm tumor in the cervical region of his spinal cord. He underwent two surgeries, and after each one he was left completely paralyzed. At his lowest point, he could move only his eyes.

💡 Wang has no medical or engineering background. Before his illness, he and his wife ran a chain of children's art schools in Shenzhen. Unable to find a reliable treatment plan, he turned to academic papers and case studies, designed his own rehabilitation program, and by 2023 was able to walk independently again.

During his recovery, Wang also taught himself programming, electronics, 3D printing, and AI. In April, he and his wife built a prototype brain-controlled wheelchair in just 48 hours at a RedNote hackathon in Shanghai. The user wears a headset that captures brainwave signals and translates them into movement commands.

At the hackathon, the wheelchair could only move in a straight line, but the project still won first prize in the hardware category. Over the next three months, Wang and his wife upgraded the system to allow the wheelchair to turn. The improved version was later demonstrated at the WAIC in Shanghai.

"We are not making this device as a high-tech gimmick. It is simply meant to open a window for those who are completely unable to express themselves," Wang said.


💰 The couple is now seeking funding to turn the prototype into a commercial product. Wang also hopes to open a rehabilitation center equipped with electrical stimulation suits and exoskeletons.

Hypoallergenic Gene-Edited Dogs Created in the U.S.

The startup Kindred Companion Sciences has unveiled the world's first hypoallergenic dogs—the beagles Alfie and Bailey.

Using the CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing scissors, scientists switched off the gene that codes for the Can f 1 protein. That's the protein people are most often allergic to.

The puppies were born in 2024 completely healthy, and the edit left their other genes untouched. The mutation that stops Can f 1 from being produced does occasionally occur in nature, so the missing protein doesn't bother the dogs themselves at all.

Alfie lives with one of the startup's researchers, and Bailey with the company's founder, geneticist Matt Walker. He had wanted a dog since childhood, but would sneeze and break out in a rash even around breeds considered "hypoallergenic."

"It feels just amazing to get to have a dog," Walker said.


The company hopes to win regulatory approval and make hypoallergenic dogs of various breeds available to everyone.

TIME has launched a new advertising format with the platform Mobian that targets AI agents rather than human readers. The magazine now serves AI bots simplified Markdown versions of its articles, stripped of images and complex page layouts. These pages are easier for ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI search systems to process.

The AI versions also include sponsored FAQ sections about advertisers. The idea is that AI systems will index these blocks alongside editorial content and potentially take them into account when answering users' questions.

"Maybe it's more important to influence the agent than even the human, because with a human you influence one person. When you influence ChatGPT, you're influencing potentially all of ChatGPT," says Mobian co-founder Jonah Goodhart.


🔍 Whether this approach actually works remains an open question. AI systems rank and select sources independently, so there’s no guarantee branded content will make it into an answer. In the worst case, it could even end up being treated like spam by an LLM.

✖️ A Tick Bite Can Cause a Meat Allergy

Scientists are reporting the rapid spread worldwide of α-gal syndrome—an unusual food allergy that can develop after bites from certain ticks.

During a bite, the carbohydrate α-gal in the parasite's saliva enters the bloodstream and triggers the production of IgE antibodies. As a result, whenever the body comes into contact with the α-gal molecule—which is also found in mammal meat, dairy products, gelatin, and medications containing animal-derived ingredients—the immune system may attack it. Symptoms can include stomach pain, vomiting, hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing. At least two people worldwide have already died as a result of this allergy.

The syndrome's most unusual feature is the delayed reaction, which can take up to eight hours. Someone may eat a steak in the evening and wake up in the middle of the night with an attack, without connecting it to dinner.

Scientists believe that α-gal-containing fat molecules from meat first travel through the intestines and lymphatic system, gradually breaking down into particles that can seep into tissues and trigger an immune response.

🌐 In certain areas of Australia, the syndrome affects more than 700 people per 100,000 residents, and since 2020, the number of suspected cases has been growing by around 22% each year. In the United States, estimates suggest that up to 450,000 people may be affected.

The increase in cases has been linked to climate warming, which is expanding tick habitats, as well as to growing deer populations—the main hosts of these parasites. There is currently no cure, but the syndrome is not always chronic. After several years without tick exposure, antibody levels may fall, and some people can gradually reintroduce meat into their diet.

Startup Nanit sells cameras that continuously monitor a child using AI. The video is sent to a server, where algorithms record when the child wakes up and falls asleep and track breathing, coughs, and other movements.

All the data is analyzed and compiled into charts and a daily sleep score. The most expensive bundle costs nearly $500, while a subscription costs an additional $120 to $300 a year.

The startup wants to teach the system to monitor speech development, motor skills, and other developmental milestones. Eventually, the cameras could remain in children's bedrooms until they are 10 years old. In the future, teenagers could receive detailed health analytics based on data collected since infancy.

💡 However, doctors are concerned that constant monitoring may increase parents' anxiety and make them trust their own observations less.

🎓 Danish Students Will Have to Defend Written Assignments Orally Because of AI

Starting this school year, Danish upper secondary school students will have to orally defend the major written SSO assignments they complete at home.

The measure was announced by the country’s education minister, Magnus Heunicke. He says action is needed to ensure that AI does not undermine students’ skills, academic abilities and, above all, their ability to think for themselves.

Schools will also be encouraged to have students complete more written assignments at school under controlled conditions, so teachers can follow the students’ work process, provide relevant feedback and create a more accurate basis for assessment.

💡 At the same time, Denmark is experimenting with allowing students at selected upper secondary schools to use AI while preparing for an oral English exam. During the preparation period, students may use available tools, including generative AI, but they must then give their oral presentation in person in front of an examiner.

According to the Danish Evaluation Institute, about 90% of upper secondary students already use AI for schoolwork, while two-thirds say they have cheated using AI at least once.

🔍 Scientists Explain Why Asthma Is Rare Among Farm Kids

Children who grow up on farms are known to have lower rates of asthma, allergies, and hay fever. Scientists have long suspected that this "farm effect" comes from exposure to a wide variety of microbes that help "train" the immune system.

Now, using genetic analysis and computer modeling, researchers have identified the microbes largely responsible for this effect. They analyzed bacteria collected from the mattresses of more than 1,000 children living in rural Germany.

💡 The researchers identified nine types of bacteria from the cows' digestive systems that appear to account for about two-thirds of the farm effect against asthma and roughly half of the protection against hay fever and eczema.

Compounds produced by these bacteria become airborne in barns and can be inhaled into the lungs, where they interact with receptors in the body. Researchers believe this may help keep excessive inflammation in check, reducing the risk of asthma and allergies.

🤖 AI Agent Hacked a Gym Booking System to Book a Workout

An Australian man named Andrew asked his AI agent, OpenClaw, powered by Claude, to book him a spot in a group class at his gym.

The agent found a vulnerability in the booking system's API and booked Andrew into classes several weeks in advance. The regular website interface only allows bookings for the next few days.

For his next workout, Andrew was fourth on the waiting list and asked the agent whether it could move him higher. The agent discovered that the system allowed it to cancel other people's bookings without checking user permissions. It then canceled the booking of the person who was first in line, moving Andrew up to third place.

When Andrew asked it to undo everything, the agent replied: "Bad news—I can't add them back."


Andrew then asked the agent to write an email to the developer of the booking software describing the bug it had found.

🔍 AI Detects the Flu from a Throat Photo in Ten Seconds

The Nodoca device takes a photo of a patient's throat using a specialized camera. AI then analyzes the image along with the patient's temperature, symptoms, and other data. The result appears in about ten seconds.

An infection causes distinctive changes in the mucous membrane and blood vessels of the throat. To train the algorithm to recognize them, developers at Japanese company Aillis spent several years collecting images in clinics. Today, their database includes several million images.

Unlike a rapid antigen test, which looks for viral proteins in a swab sample, Nodoca evaluates the body's response to an infection. This means the system can be used as soon as the first symptoms appear, when an antigen test may not yet detect the illness.

💼 In 2022, Nodoca received approval from Japan's medical regulator and was added to the national health insurance system. The device is now used in more than 2,000 clinics across Japan. In 2025, it was also authorized for COVID-19 screening.

However, AI still cannot fully replace swab tests. In clinical trials, the system showed 76% sensitivity and 88.1% specificity compared with PCR testing. It may miss some cases, so a doctor must still make the final diagnosis.

💡 The developers are now exploring whether the same throat image could reveal signs of other conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

South Korea wants to treat AI porn featuring virtual characters the same as erotic deepfakes involving real people.

If the proposed bill is passed, creating or distributing such content will be punishable by up to seven years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won ($35,000). Even possession or viewing it could result in up to three years in prison in the worst-case scenario. The lawmakers also intend to punish those who create AI-generated erotic content for their own use and do not publish it anywhere.

The initiative emerged after the high-profile acquittal of a man accused of distributing deepfakes of nude women in a Telegram chat room. Investigators were unable to prove that the images depicted real people.

Supporters of the new law call this "no victims, no case" situation a loophole that must be closed to protect victims of AI-generated fakes.

Still, lawyers insist that one cannot automatically equate AI characters with real people and apply the same penalties to virtual images and materials that have harmed a living person.

Social media users have also widely criticized the law, and local platforms have started hiding 18+ sections.
