Prime Minister Netanyahu meets with U.S. Senator Fetterman
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met today (Wednesday, 29 July 2026) at Blair House in Washington with U.S. Senator John Fetterman.
Prime Minister Netanyahu:
"Senator, it's good to see you again. You've been a stellar patriot, talking about what is good for America, what is good for our alliance, of which you've been a champion, and you've been telling it like it is, with no fear, and just an indefatigable and courageous commitment to the truth, and I want to thank you on behalf of the people of Israel. Actually, I want to thank you on behalf of free people everywhere, because I've been receiving, from around the world, kudos for your courage and your clarity. So thank you. Thank you".
Senator Fetterman:
"Mr. Prime Minister, it was a supreme honor of my time here in the Senate, proud to stand with and for the vision and what Israel is, the miracle that Israel is. I've had the privilege of visiting a couple times, and when you witness it, and you can just realize what a miracle it is. And it's been disappointing, as a Democratic politician, how our party continues to behave – and we had the culmination of that, where that worthless mayor in New York, you know, saying these kinds of ridiculous claims. Now I think, as far as I know, I was the only Democrat that was proud to push that trash back, and now here we are. I'm proud to stand with Israel through everything".
Prime Minister Netanyahu:
"Well, we're doubly proud to have you as our friend, and I think history will record your contribution to truth and justice. And these are not just words that are coming out from my mouth; they're coming out from my heart and from deeply felt convictions. And we're very proud, very proud of your stats, it's one that will be recorded in my history, for history, for posterity. So thank you".
Senator Fetterman:
"I'm proud to to remain the conscience of the Democratic Party in Congress; not just the Senate, but over in Congress, overall. I've always supported things like last year, Midnight Hammer, or what you were confronting in Gaza, and how necessary it was to destroy Hamas and Hezbollah, and also go after the Iranians with their capabilities. It's always been a just war for me, and people forgot why this was even necessary, and look at the ways these organizations and the way Iran… I don't understand how we've arrived with where we are politically, you know, at least in my party, but I have no regrets. So… thank you for your kind words, and I'm always so sorry for what Israel and the Jewish community has suffered, especially since after 10/7."

Joint Announcement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz
In accordance with the directive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, the IDF has just destroyed the terror tunnels in the Beaufort area of southern Lebanon, an underground infrastructure that was a central part of the Hezbollah terror organization's invasion plan for the communities of the Galilee.
The tunnels were blown up using approximately 700 tons of explosives, as part of the IDF's systematic operation to destroy all of Hezbollah's terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
The powerful operation was carried out at this time following yesterday's blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Hezbollah terror organization.
The State of Israel will not accept any violation of the ceasefire agreement. Any attempt by Hezbollah to harm IDF forces or Israeli citizens will be met with a harsh and powerful response that will exact a heavy price from the terror organization.
The IDF will remain in the security zone in southern Lebanon and will continue to destroy any terror infrastructure in order to prevent any attempt by Hezbollah to rebuild its capabilities.

President Isaac Herzog Receives Diplomatic Credentials of New Ambassadors to Israel, as Chile and Honduras Return Ambassadors for the First Time Since October 7th
President Herzog on the steps taken by the Board of Peace on Gaza: “This is a very positive step, with the clear caveat and undertaking that Hamas must be disarmed fully. This is clearly the basis of moving forward to the next phase by bringing in the government of technocrats”
On August 3, 2026, President Isaac Herzog received the diplomatic credentials of six new Ambassadors to Israel, including from Chile and Honduras, whose countries returned Ambassadors to Israel for the first time since October 7th. In formal ceremonies held at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, the new Ambassadors of Germany, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff; Chile, Gabriel Alejandro Zaliasnik Schilkurt; Honduras, Jose Luis Nunez Bennet; Nigeria, Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu; Georgia, Beka Dvali; and Sri Lanka, Saman Kumar Chandrasiri, all presented their diplomatic credentials.
Upon receiving the diplomatic credentials of the new ambassadors, President Herzog addressed the steps taken on Gaza by the Board of Peace: “I see a lot of positive elements in the efforts of the Board of Peace, under the auspices of President Trump and his leadership. I think his 20-Point Plan, which was adopted by the UN Security Council, and now, moving forward with the guidelines and the agreements that are going to be reached, is a very positive step with the clear caveat and undertaking that Hamas must be disarmed, and I hope Hamas will be disarmed fully. This is clearly the basis of moving forward to the next phase by bringing in the government of technocrats. The efforts of the Americans, the Board of Peace, President Trump, and CEO of the Board of Peace Nickolay Mladenov can bring a certain vision of hope, also to the people of Gaza and to the people of Israel. I sincerely hope and pray that we will find ways to move forward with our Palestinian neighbors on all fronts, to have a dialogue with our Palestinian neighbors.”
Welcoming the new Ambassador of Germany to Israel, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, President Herzog stated: “I welcome Ambassador Lambsdorff to Israel. The special relationship between Israel and Germany is rooted in a painful history, but today stands as a strong and vibrant partnership across so many fields. I wish Ambassador Lambsdorff every success in continuing to strengthen the important ties between our two nations.”
Greeting Ambassador Zaliasnik of Chile, President Herzog said: “During my excellent meeting with President Kast in May, he informed me that he would be shortly returning Chile’s Ambassador to Israel. I am now delighted to welcome Ambassador Zaliasnik here in Israel, who comes with a message on behalf of all Chileans to increase ties with Israel. This is a milestone in our relations, and I wish him every success as we reinvigorate the important ties between Israel and Chile.”
Upon receiving the new Ambassador of Honduras, President Herzog remarked: “In my recent meeting with my good friend President Asfura of Honduras, I was delighted to hear that Honduras would soon be returning its Ambassador to Israel. I am now pleased to receive the diplomatic credentials of Ambassador Jose Luis Nunez Bennet, as the relations between Israel and Honduras continue to reach new heights.”
