Former World Bank Lead Economist warns the world is close to WORLD WAR 3, draws parallels to the world before WW1:

‘You can say that of course in the World War One and what is similar today, you had coalitions. You had coalitions that were getting ready to sort of pounce on each other….

And nowadays we have the same situation. We are actually having more and more clear coalitions.

On one hand it is China, Russia and Iran. On the other hand it’s Europe and the United States, and people are unaware of what the war would bring and they were similarly very oblivious and they were very optimistic…

You know that famous story ’we will be back home for Christmas’, they just did not figure which Christmas it would be they thought it would be Christmas 1914 but it turned out it was Christmas 1918.

When they came back after 20 or 30 million dead so I think we should not take this lightly at all and I think there’s people who have either no knowledge of history or actually they don’t have family who have been exposed to war and they believe the war is some kind of game.’

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson on Going Underground:

‘We’re already in WORLD WAR 3. Tack that on to what’s happening in the Arctic, what’s happening in the Balkans, or the Baltic Sea, what’s happening in Kaliningrad, perhaps what’s happening in Ukraine and around Ukraine, what’s happening in other places between Ukraine and the Caucasus.

And below the Caucasus, you got the World War already going. You’ve got several theatres already going, and all it needs to do is merge, and it will eventually, and we’re going to have a damn fine war.’

Former World Bank Lead Economist explains why globalisation WON’T save us from World War 3:

‘You had a permanent story, which actually was defended practically by everybody, that globalisation and interdependency and exchange creates a situation where war becomes quasi-impossible…

Because the losses on both sides would be so big that people don’t want to engage in war because they actually make much more money through trade, sales, collaboration.

That was a theory which also existed before World War I. People were quite aware of that. And then you ask the question: how is it that at the peak of globalisation, where cooperation, economic cooperation, should be at its peak, why do we end up with a war then?

And really, economists don’t have an explanation because in the economic world, this should not have happened.

So we really have something somewhat similar now. We are at the end of a very long period of globalisation…maximum trade-to-GDP ratio, which I think reached just before COVID, and we have a political situation which is worse now than ever after World War II.

So these two things really, in sort of economic world, do not belong together, but in the real world they do.’

Russian🇷🇺 politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky predicted WW3 starting with a war against Iran before his death in 2022:

‘You are not taking into account the situation in the Middle East. Such events are taking place there that everyone will completely forget what Ukraine is.

It’s about World War 3. Iran is not Vietnam, or North Korea, or Kosovo. The most terrible events will take place there.’

Former Economic Hitman John Perkins explains how the US🇺🇸 government and corporations maintain and expand their empire through economic bullying, IMF & World Bank loans, and military attacks to gain access to new markets and resources.

“Capitalism has concentrated the earth’s wealth in the hands of a few states and divided the world up to the last little bit.

Any further division, any further enrichment could take place only at the expense of others…

The issue could only be settled by force, and, accordingly, war between the world marauders became inevitable.”

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says the US is ‘DEEPLY INVOLVED’ in Ukrainian strikes into Russian territory against civilian targets.

While we haven’t fallen off of the precipice into World War 3 yet, the existing status quo means one target too serious, one mass casualty event, could snap Russia’s patience and trigger a serious escalation.

Even during the height of the so-called ‘Cold War’ with all of the proxy wars, the US never assisted a proxy in striking the Soviet Union’s territory. It would have been an unthinkable escalation that could have triggered a nuclear exchange.

The current situation is more dangerous than the ‘Cold War’ ever was.

Afshin: ‘We all know while you were there, the World Bank destroyed the economies of Bolivia, Mexico, Poland, Argentina, Zambia, Russia, Thailand, Indonesia…’

Prof. Branko Milanović: I’m not sure that they’re destroyed…I worked actually I did work on Poland. Poland in 1987 to 1990 was in a very difficult situation. Poland was in default to the foreign creditors, not only private but also public.

Afshin Rattansi: If you advised them, it led to 18.3% reduction in household income. 26% per capita decrease and 11% GDP decrease. It was a disaster.

Milanović: ‘Poland was actually a success case. Actually, Poland’s GDP now on per capita GDP is actually equal to Italian GDP. And actually, in historical terms, actually, Poland now is probably going through the best period ever.’

Afshin: ‘Because it because it went against the policies of the World Bank, arguably.’

Former World Bank Lead Economist calls for China🇨🇳 to TEACH its economic model to the world after its SUCCESS:

‘The advantage of the Washington Consensus was that it was very simple and in some aspects it was exaggerated and wrong, but it was simple and you could understand it.

Chinese economists and economists working on China should be able to come to some consensus of essential policy changes that can be learned from China, and basically create a model that could be implemented in other countries.

It's not imperialism…if a country has been successful economically, that country actually should sell its economic model.

It's not only because that country would have greater influence. It would help the world by teaching them.’

Why the world should learn from China’s🇨🇳 economic model:

In 1999, China’s economy was smaller than Italy’s. Today, China’s economy is larger than the combined economies of Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Canada.

It now has surpassed the US in GDP @ PPP.

Here are some of China’s incredible achievements:

-800 million people brought out of poverty in 4 decades

-Extreme poverty eliminated in China

-Lifted 98.99 million rural citizens out of poverty since 2013

-Expanded the Belt and Road Initiative to over 150 countries

-Has built a larger high speed rail network than the rest of the world put together, expanding it from 10,000KM to over 50,000KM

-Installed renewable energy capacity in China is roughly 4× larger than that of the United States today

-Made China the world’s largest industrial economy, with manufacturing output now exceeding the US & EU combined

-Presided over the largest housing and urbanisation programme in history, moving hundreds of millions into modern cities with infrastructure, utilities, and services. In 2013 730 million lived in cities, in 2025, 954 million lived in cities. An increase of 224 million.

-By 2030, China is projected to account for over 40% of the world’s middle class

-Average disposable income has increased more than 25x since 1980 (real terms)

-China’s middle class already drives the majority of domestic consumption, shifting growth away from exports

-China now contributes more to global consumption growth than the US and Europe combined

-Steel production: China produces approximately 55% of global steel

-Shipbuilding: China accounts for over 50% of global shipbuilding output

-China produces more cement than the rest of the world combined

⚡️The renewable energy dominance:

-China controls 80%+ of the global solar manufacturing market across the entire supply chain (wafers, cells, panels)

-It produces approximately 98% of solar wafers, 92% of solar cells, and 85% of solar panels globally

-In 2025 alone, China exported 200+ GW of solar cells, with exports surging over 73% year-on-year

-Solar cells & wafers now make up 40%+ of China’s solar exports

-China drove over 50% of global solar expansion in 2025

-Chinese battery giant CATL alone holds approximately 42% of the global EV battery market

Former World Bank Lead Economist Prof. Branko Milanović:

‘China🇨🇳 is absolutely an economic case that defines the current moment. We have NEVER had increase of incomes of such magnitude over such a long time for so many people as we have had in China.

More than Japan from 1945 until 1980-85, or the UK at the Industrial Revolution, or the United States at its really high growth rates at the end of the 19th century and early 20th century.

You actually talking of an entirely different order of magnitude.

It's important because whoever is the most economically successful country at a given point in time gets either imitated by the others, others actually try to learn something, or that country tries to sell what they have done elsewhere.

So what I think actually is now beginning to happen, although slowly, is China is trying to actually sell a little bit its model abroad.

The problem with the Chinese model is that there are so many contingent things that have happened over the last 45 years in China that the model is not easily packaged and sold.’

‘US and Europe’s obsession with militarisation is a response to the fact they can NO LONGER compete with China🇨🇳 and India🇮🇳.’

—Former World Bank Lead Economist Prof. Branko Milanović

‘Military Keynesianism came very handily because the European countries and the US have been facing obviously sort of reduction in industrial activity…

Deindustrialisation has been faced, and they don’t like that because essentially China is beating them in all the games, including of course most recently in cars, in automobile production, and in sort of taking over the market which Germany had for a while.

They decided that they cannot produce and compete with China in cars. They are going to produce tanks because you don’t compete because you produce tanks domestically.

So I think that the military Keynesianism responds to the economic failure, particularly of Europe, of really sort of staying on the top of the game when it comes to the industrial and manufacturing production.’

Delusional former UK🇬🇧 Prime Minister Boris Johnson:

‘The idea that America🇺🇸 is Sparta, the entrenched and sinking former power, and China🇨🇳 is Athens, the rising power…RUBBISH!

Other way around, China is Sparta the closed, autocratic society. It’s America that has always been the free and open Athenian society.’

The US is decaying under the weight of its wealth-hoarding bloated oligarchy, and its empire of violence and hypocrisy.

It’s China that has been rising peacefully, without attacking any other country, and is at the forefront of innovation and development.

Philip Pilkington: ‘Iran War has ACCELERATED the end of US🇺🇸 financial hegemony, China’s🇨🇳 strategy is simply to WAIT.’

‘The Chinese strategy, and Russia's involved in that Chinese strategy at this point, is basically to just wait.

Now I don't think anyone was sure that the Iran war would happen. If the Iran war hadn't happened, all of this stuff would have happened more gradually.

I think maybe we would have got, you know, a gradual unwind over the next maybe 10 years or something like that.

And maybe at a certain point, a more enlightened US government would have realised, for example, doing a second Bretton Woods system and a multilateral, truly multilateral, multipolar currency system would have been the way forward.

The Iran war has turned all that out. It's accelerated everything by a factor of five to ten, and I think It’s probably surprised some people in China, probably in Russia as well, and in the BRICS and they but they're gradually becoming aware of what's actually happening…

The correct strategic stance that they're taking is just to step back a little bit and make sure you don't get too involved, never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake, as Sun Tzu said, and I think that's basically what's happening here.

Since 2022, arguably since 2014, since the Crimea incursion, the BRICS countries have been developing slowly, slowly, slowly an alternative architecture. I keep telling people in the West, those things can be activated almost immediately.

The point here is everyone can just switch to the other system pretty much immediately. They just have to trust it enough, or they have to distrust the present system enough.

That's how financial markets work. It's all trust and contracts. And so this thing could, this thing could Really reset quickly, like really quickly.’

‘The oil price is NOT reflecting reality. Traders right now are trading the price based off of headlines from Washington.

“The President said war is over, Strait is open. Great, let’s reduce the price.” But that’s not reality.’

Trading algorithms read Donald Trump’s blatant lies about the disastrous war on Iran on Truth Social, mainstream corporate media regurgitates Trump’s declarations that are detached from reality in their headlines…

Trading algorithms view corporate news outlets as ‘high trust’, and then trades based on these positive, fake headlines, keeping prices artificially suppressed.

Philip Pilkington: ‘This could be the beginning of THE END of the US DOLLAR system.’

‘The two weakest links there are Japan and Britain. Japan and Britain are both the largest lenders to the United States. The United States is a huge borrower in the foreign markets. That’s how it runs the big trade deficits, and it’s able to consume without producing enough.

Well, the creditors in that equation are Japan and Britain. Japan is collapsing. Its economy is collapsing. The yen is collapsing, and Bessent is desperately trying to prop it up so that they don’t stop buying US Treasuries or they don’t start dumping US Treasuries into the market.

Britain is borderline bankrupt. A bunch of economists a few weeks ago said that it would probably end up in an IMF bailout at some point. If the IMF could even bail it out, it’s probably too big a country to bail out.

So you’ve got the two largest holders of US Treasuries, that is the two largest creditors to the United States, and both of them are creaking under pressure.

And when this oil prices oil crisis actually breaks out and we see the sort of inflation similar to 2022-2023, the pressure on, for example, Britain and Japan will be too much, and at that point the dollar global system could start to collapse.

Scott Bessent came out a week before the Japanese bailout and started to talk about a new Bretton Woods system signals to me that they may be beginning to understand that the dollar system is finished and it would be much more productive for them to do something constructive rather than let it unwind chaotically.

But I will say in history when these things have happened it’s tended to be chaotic unwinding. It’s tended to be.’
