In case you have linked my 88x31 button on your website through a link that says "https://gianmarco.gg/pins/gmgpin.gif", please change it to "https://gianmarco.gg/buttons/gmgpin.gif" as the "pins" subdirectory will no longer be available soon.
Another solution is to host the button image file yourself.
This also applies to any other buttons you get from my "pins" subdirectory.

Today Google bricked my Chromebook by force-installing a hidden extension that trains a machine vision model on the contents of my screen without my consent, making the whole machine too hot to touch, and I am once again begging someone, anyone, to remove Chrome from Google by any means necessary.

#Odysee starts to worry me a bit... Didn't they get rid of ads a while back? I know they have Google Analytics, but I thought it was only for their own analytics indeed. But now they have 875 spying partners, just like every other spyware website.

Happy april fool's day! 🥳🥴 Unfortunately, the reality of GDPR enforcement is so dire that we don't even need to make up a joke.
🧑💻 A recent noyb analysis showed that only 1.3% of cases before EU DPAs result in a fine - while privacy professionals say that they are the most effective enforcement measure.

🦊 Firefox 137 introduces tab groups, a refreshed address bar with search enhancements, improved PDF handling, and developer updates. It also features HEVC playback support on Linux and a calculator in the address bar, among others.

Imagine being the person who, 30+ years ago, solved the problem of moving the mouse diagonally to a submenu closing the submenu because the mouse passed over another element – just add a short timeout before switching to a different submenu – and then living to see every application on the planet reimplement menus without that behaviour.

Well, it’s been long enough now, it’s about time for a story.
At my last job, I worked on a smartwatch for kids. The idea is it’s a legit phone with a SIM, they can’t lose it (it’s on their wrist), there’s no apps, they can’t call/text in or out except to parent-approved contacts, and it keeps track of their location just in case. It’s a workaround to school phone bans for paranoid parents.
When I say we were the only product on the market that gave a shit for the security of children’s data, I really mean we were the ONLY one. We came from selling services to schools - having security correct the first time is the default. There’s no reason you ever skip security, unless you want to immediately lose all contracts and set fire to your reputation forever.
The competitors though - they were non-technical outfits that didn’t appreciate the security/legal concerns of handling the data of minors. Legitimately, so many of the competing products were very opaquely repurposed Chinese 3G car ...
