JUST IN - U.S. forces are attempting to seize the Russian-flagged tanker Marinera (ex-Bella 1) in the Atlantic — Reuters

- U.S. Coast Guard & P-8 surveillance aircraft are tracking the vessel south of Iceland.
- Reports indicate Moscow has deployed a submarine and naval assets to shield the tanker.
- The vessel re-flagged from Guyana to Russia mid-voyage to claim state protection and evade seizure.
This could be the first direct US-Russia naval confrontation of 2026. The U.S. has already signaled it intends to seize, not sink, the vessel.
