Cho's grimoire
Twitter sure is something
I opened twitter again today and my timeline randomly decided to show me an ounce of context: apparently the guy behind "Mii porn" account would not be a good guy and is dating a 19 yo artist whose Mii sona is very similar to Malva's
I kinda understand the connection better now lmfao, but still...completely different context, a quick scan of my account would immediately disprove I'm the 19 yo girl π«‘ understanding context clearly isn't the strong point of twt users

And this time as well, to celebrate the end of my third gacha study, I've commissioned 9 artists to make a lineart of a character from each of the new 6 games I've played plus 3 previous games that I'm still playing!

Mother's day was yesterday but still felt like drawing Malva and her mum Rea. She's always there for her daughter, though as broken as she may be from her own traumas, and they both help each other heal their wounds

There's a pretty heated debate going on in the art community right now, about tracing from 3D models and other references, all started by artfight not allowing tracing for this year's challenge
This made me wonder, what do you think about it? How do you approach references?
Personally, I never really trace directly from a reference because I don't feel like *I* learn much from it, and honestly I rarely use references at all (because I'm lazy to look for them lol), rather instead use my own body as a ref by looking and observing the body part I need to draw. But maybe this tracing method could help me save time and give a better look to my art, so maybe I could try sometime?
From the looks of it, a LOT of people got mad at the new artfight rules (with reason) so this made me wonder, how popular is this method of doing 3D models and tracing them? Does it actually save time for you? I'm just curious really!!

In my opinion btw, you can do whatever you want as long as you are not borderline stealing someone else's work (be careful when referencing existing photos!), for example photobashing is a method that professionals 100% use all the time in the industry for concept art so yeah, artfight admins know shit about how the artists actually work lol

While we're on the topic, here's a bunch of reference sites I compiled some time ago that I often use!
