coast VS beach VS shore VS coastline

🔸 در ابتدا، coast محلی از خشکی است که در مجاورت دریا قرار دارد. تا فاصله‌ی چند کیلومتری از دریا می‌تواند coast باشد؛ پس coast، می‌تواند دربرگیرنده‌ی ساحل و پوشش‌های گیاهی و شهری پشت ساحل نیز باشد.

🔸 همانطور که در تصویر با رنگ قرمز پیداست، coastline(خط ساحلی)، مرز بین خشکی و دریاست؛ خط فرضی‌ای است برای نشان دادن محلی که دریا به خشکی می‌رسد.

🔸 در ادامه، Beach، خشکی‌ای لب دریاست که با شن یا سنگ‌ریزه پوشیده شده باشد. Beach کاربریِ تفریحی دارد؛ مثلا: شنا کردن، قدم زدن، ورزش، وقت گذراندن و فراغت، آفتاب گرفتن، و ...

🔸 کلمه‌ی shore، به هرگونه خشکی لب دریا گفته می‌شود؛ چه از شن و سنگ‌ریزه باشد، و چه سنگی و صخره‌ای؛ چه قابل استفاده برای تفریح فراغت باشد و چه نباشد.

🔹 پس به این سه جمله در مقایسه‌ی beach و shore توجه کنیم:

1. Every beach is a shore, but not every shore is a beach.
- هر beach ای، یک shore است، اما هر shore ای، beach نیست.

2. A rocky coastline is a shore, but not a beach.
 - یک خط ساحلی سنگی shore است، اما beach نیست.
