Don't forget your 2026 lemon piglet!

Using the lemon's "nose" as a reference point, cut two slits for ears, and a small one for the mouth, just enough to securely wiggle in a penny (too big and he'll drop the penny as he dries! bad omen!).
For eyes- clove buds, peppercorns, or any small dark seeds will do (grapeseeds are a good symbol of bounty).
For the tail- a whole bay leaf with no rips or tears, tightly twisted tinfoil, a short knotted string, a needle from your christmas tree, or any herb sprig.
Finally, for legs- poke in some matchsticks, toothpicks, or screws.
Keep your piggu in a dry area, mold will spoil your fortune!

If they remain intact the whole year (nothing fallen out), do NOT toss them away! They've served you faithfully and the puckered piggies are excellent guides for the fresh luck of the next generation.

Pig Posting. The Lithuanian Native Swine
As a surprising twist, horses and dogs are not the only facet of Lithuanian zoological heritage. Pigs, more specifically, The Lithuanian Native Swine (Lietuvos vietinΔ) breed is also featured in this area.
Formed from pigs historically domesticated in Lithuania, the Lithuanian Native is recognizable by its large black spots and is noteworthy for its wattle undergrowths below their necks - an archaic feature present only in rare breeds such as the American Red Wattle Hog. The breed found greater significance in being used to create the Lithuanian White Pig during the USSR and other Russian pig breeds across the Soviet Republics.
Today, the breed is limited to two hundred individuals as an endangered breed. As a result, it is preserved for conservational purposes by the Centre of Farm Animal Genetic Resources at Baisogala as a niche gem of Lithuanian zoological heritage.
