Abortion in Arizona has been banned since before Statehood. After Roe v Wade, the courts placed an injunction on that law, allowing for it to happen legally. We have since passed many laws progressively making abortion more and more limited. For example, we passed a bill this year that bans abortion after 15 weeks, and that will be in effect in about 90 days.

The fastest way to completely ban abortions is for the court to lift the injunction so that the statehood law is enforceable once again. The only way to make abortion illegal otherwise is to pass a bill with an emergency clause, requiring a 2/3 majority vote. We only have the votes for a simple majority, so that will not happen. The more effective route is through the courts.

Please stop bashing the Legislature on this, friends. We have been faithful to protect the unborn as best as possible, with the members elected. When I first started, we were doing late term abortions in Arizona. This has been a process, and today the Lord made a big move for us to complete the work. Halleluiah.
