Drag Queen Story Hour - Festival of Tales
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, PVCC will host the “Festival of Tales,” a celebration of cultural literacy and education that brings our community together.
We offer this event twice a year - both in the Spring and Winter. The event provides numerous activities such as live music, games, arts and crafts, and storytelling sessions. The Festival of Tales has provided more than 35,000 free books to children and their families, set against a backdrop of exploring and honoring the diversity of society at large and our local communities in particular.
In planning the Festival of Tales, students in PVCC’s PRIDE (People Respecting Individuality, Diversity, and Equality) Club proposed the idea to host a Drag Queen Story Hour to coincide with the event’s goal to inspire a love of reading, while teaching deeper lessons on diversity, self-love and an appreciation of others. For our event, the reader will provide narration of an age-appropriate storybook in a classroom setting.
These sessions are permitted under Arizona law, Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) policy and are allowed as an expression of free speech as outlined in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Because of the variety and number of events and activities offered, parents and guardians can freely choose activities and events for their child(ren). Storytelling sessions are held in individual classrooms clearly marked with identifying signage. We are confident that parents will select activities aligning with their interests and values.
Understanding that our community has differences of opinion regarding political, social, and religious views, the Arizona Free Expression statute (and our MCCCD policy) states: “It is not the proper role of an institution of higher education to shield individuals from speech protected by the first amendment, including, without limitation, ideas and opinions that may be unwelcome, disagreeable or deeply offensive.” In honoring this directive, the event was allowed to take place. Disallowing or canceling the event because some might have found it offensive would violate the Arizona statute and MCCCD policy.
We are excited about our upcoming Festival of Tales and invite the public to join us for a truly uplifting event where everyone has a right to celebrate the joys of reading, our diverse community, and love and acceptance for all.
For more information on the Festival of Tales, go to https://www.paradisevalley.edu/academics/festival-tales.

Injunction to Prohibit Use of Voting Machines Filed by Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate Kari Lake and Senator Mark Finchem
Kari Lake, who is running for governor of Arizona, and Senator Mark Finchem, who is running for Arizona Secretary of State, filed “a civil rights action for declaratory and injunctive relief to prohibit the use of electronic voting machines in the State of Arizona in the upcoming 2022 Midterm Election, slated to be held on November 8, 2022.”
The complaint, submitted on Friday by attorneys Andrew Parker, Alan Dershowitz, and Kurt Olsen, lists Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, and the Pima County Board of Supervisors as Defendants.
The 55 page filing documents decades of evidence of election system vulnerabilities, knowledge of the security flaws by state and federal lawmakers, and the pathological lack of transparency by the voting machine companies. “For two decades, experts and policymakers from across the political spectrum have raised glaring failures with electronic voting systems. Indeed, just three months ago, a computer science expert in Curling v. Raffensperger, Case No. 1:17-cv-02989-AT (U.S. Dist. Ct., N.D. Ga.), identified catastrophic failures in electronic voting machines used in sixteen states, including Arizona,” the petition began.
Not only are the machines catastrophically susceptible to hacking, the complaint notes that “only three companies collectively provide voting machines and software for 90% of all eligible voters in the United States.”
The technical management of our elections has been farmed out to this vendor triad. “Jurisdictions throughout the nation, including Arizona, have functionally outsourced all election operations to these private companies. In the upcoming Midterm Election, over three thousand counties across the United States will have delegated the governmental responsibility for programming and administering elections to private contractors,” the complaint continued.
“This includes all counties in Arizona, most of which have contracted with Dominion or ES&S to provide machines, software, and services for the Midterm Election. For example, in Defendant Maricopa County, officials do not possess credentials necessary to validate tabulator configurations and independently validate the voting system prior to an election. Dominion maintains those credentials.”
The Plaintiffs are seeking “an Order that Defendants collect and count votes through a constitutionally acceptable process, which relies on tried and true precepts that mandates integrity and transparency. This includes votes cast by hand on verifiable paper ballots that maintains voter anonymity; votes counted by human beings, not by machines; and votes counted with transparency, and in a fashion observable to the public.”

I'm truly disgusted by what these hospitals have become. Did all the good care providers leave? How can they be so heartless?
Wilfredo said they heard doctors mocking their plea to extend their daughter’s life support, saying things to the effect of “just bury her and see if your God will resurrect her,” and “If you believe miracles, then what is the difference between her being dead now and letting Jesus do the miracle of raising her from the grave?”

“My red skirt is hitched up to my waist, though no higher. Below it the Commander is f*cking. What he is f*ucking is the lower part of my body. I do not say making love, because this is not what he's doing. Copulating too would be inaccurate, because it would imply two people and only one is involved. Nor does rape cover it: nothing is going on here that I haven't signed up for. There wasn't a lot of choice but there was some, and this is what I chose.”

Well, the Constitution has just taken another hit, and we’re mobilizing again to defend it. The reason is that our infernal authorities, not content with demanding to know your medical status, now want unfettered access to your religious status too!
On Jan. 11, 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a notice proposing to track all its employees and contractors who made “requests for exceptions from public health emergency mandates.” When those exceptions (which most people call “exemptions”) are on religious grounds, the DOJ intends to catalogue each individual’s creed, practice, or observance. And it plans to collect all their medical histories, test results, identifying information, and contact information.
Then, adding injury to insult, all this data can be shared with other branches of government – including federal, state, local, or foreign – along with judicial bodies, law enforcement, and other enforcers of rule or regulation.
