Update on Vile CRT Book Born a Crime: Thank you for reaching out regarding your concerns for the book, Born a Crime. This book was previously approved by the Literature List committee for 11th grade students and designated as a "sensitive title." As a designated sensitive title, teachers must notify parents in writing of the sensitive content, allow parents to opt-out of their student reading the title, and the teacher must provide an alternate book for those who opt out. 


Currently, our English Curriculum Specialist is reviewing this title for the content you have identified, and we will present this title to the Literature List committee for re-review. The curriculum committee is made up of teachers, administrators, and parents. 


While the title is under review, I will suspend use of the book as required reading until the committee has a chance to review the content. The process for reviewing sensitive titles will not take place until the fall of next year, as we will be currently focusing on Advanced Placement literature. If the committee has the capacity to review this title sooner, they will. In the meantime, as I stated, we will suspend using this book.

I drafted this document a couple months ago that may be a helpful guide to understanding the laws and how Title VII of the Civil Rights Act is supposed to work. It is all referenced with links to the statutes along with circuit and supreme court cases.

Also, keep any correspondence with your employer regarding exemptions, or 'mandates' in writing. It's important so that if you have to file a case with the AZ Attorney Generals office or Office of Civil Rights you have evidence. If your exemption is denied, appeal it.

It took longer than I expected to complete the programming for the DefeatingCovid.com patient testimonial site. It is now possible for any patient anywhere to record their own early treatment success video. It is also possible to upload previously recorded videos. The goal is to have hundreds (or more) of scrolling early treatment success stories. All videos must be approved by me before they will appear on the site. Currently there are zero videos on the site, but hopefully it will fill up soon. It can be done from phone or computer but phone is easier and more user friendly. I am attaching a patient instruction card that you can print out and display for your patients. If you want to experiment with it, you can follow the instructions to record a practice video and I will not approve it for posting. Please let me know if there are any questions.
