8️⃣0️⃣ years ago - on April 20, 1942 - the Battle of Moscow ended, one of the major military engagements of World War II.

☝️ The defence of Moscow became a symbol of Soviet resistance against the invading Axis forces and debunked the myth of German invincibility.

📆 May 8 marks 55 years since the memorial architectural ensemble, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, was unveiled in the Alexander Garden by the walls of the Moscow Kremlin.
⭐️ The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a symbolic monument that pays tribute to soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War. The idea to erect the memorial was conceived in 1966 on the 25th anniversary of the Nazis’ defeat in the Battle of Moscow. Ashes of Soviet soldiers killed in action outside Zelenograd were buried in the Alexander Garden on December 3 of the same year.
The monument was designed by architects Dmitry Burdin, Vladimir Klimov, Yuri Ryabaev and sculptor Nikolai Tomsky.
The monument’s tombstone, made of red quartzite blocks, is crowned with a bronze composition – a helmet and a laurel branch resting on a war banner. A sunken section overlaid with polished black labradorite plates and framed with a red granite and a bronze five-point star in the centre lies directly in front of the tombstone. The eternal flame situated in the centre was ignited on May 8, 1967 – the day of the memorial’s unveiling – from the Eternal Flame of the Field of Mars in Leningrad.
The following words are engraved on the tombstone’s granite plate: “Your Name is Unknown, Your Deed is Immortal”. Writer Sergey Smirnov and poets Konstantin Simonov, Sergey Mikhalkov and Sergey Narovchatov are credited with coming up with the inscription, with Sergey Mikhalkov’s version allegedly being chosen as the eventual winner.
To the right of the grave, on a granite pedestal situated next to the Kremlin wall, dark-red porphyry blocks encase capsules with holy soil from the 12 Hero-Cities and the Brest Hero Fortress. The name of the Hero-City and an image of the Gold Star medal are engraved on each block. A rectangular wall made of red granite with names of 45 cities of military glory stands to the right of the Smolensk block. The monument’s stele, unveiled in 2010, is less than one metre high and around ten metres long.
🎖 To the left of the tomb is a granite wall with the inscription: “1941 – To Those Who Have Fallen For The Motherland – 1945”.
📃 Executive Order of the Russian President dated December 8, 1997 established that a permanent outpost be situated next to the Eternal Flame on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow where soldiers of the Honour Guard of the Presidential Regiment shall be posted. Pursuant to the document, changing of the guard is to occur every hour from eight in the morning to eight in the evening. Only in exceptional cases can the Head of the Federal Security Service determine an alternative time period for the stationing of the Honour Guard.
📃 Presidential Executive Order of November 17, 2009 granted the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier the status of a National Memorial of Military Glory in order to preserve its historical cultural legacy for the peoples of the Russian Federation. It was included in the state register of especially valuable cultural heritage sites of the peoples of the Russian Federation.
December 3, the day when the ashes of Moscow defenders were buried in the Alexander Garden, was declared the Day of the Unknown Soldier in 2014.
Wreaths and flowers are laid by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to commemorate the memory of those soldiers who died on battlefields defending Russia. During their visits to Russia, heads of delegations of foreign states also pay tribute to the heroes here.
🕯 In recent years a tradition was born: veterans of the Great Patriotic War and young people carrying candles gather here in the early morning of the Victory Day to participate in a memorial watch.

#WeRemember #NeverForget

The liberation of the Soviet Ukraine was a massive effort of the entire nation - over 3 mln Red Army soldiers and officers gave their lives to free their brethren.

Today in Ukraine the Nazis and their fascist nationalist minions are hailed as "heroes". https://twitter.com/i/status/1528645837491937280

📹 How the Kiev regime has been killing Donbass
(a comprehensive timeline and factual evidence compilation)

The Western mainstream media and political elites have created a metauniverse of their own as regards the sequence of events in Ukraine and Donbass - one that has nothing to do with reality.

Yet #WeRemember and with this video remind of the hard facts: the Kiev regime, installed following a West-backed coup d'état, has been shelling and attacking the residents of Donbass as well as restricting and persecuting the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine itself.

It is ever more relevant to recall these facts, considering the destructive stance of the Western nations, willing to sacrifice decades of the OSCE accomplishments and achievements towards their murky political goals. Against the backdrop of the scandalous OSCE Ministerial in Łódź happening right now - Poland as the current OSCE chair barred FM Sergey Lavrov from participation - we simply speak the truth.

👉 To get the full picture make sure to read the Russian MFA Statement and watch today's FM Lavrov's news conference on the matter.
