The novel is about a high ranking agent who goes to work for the Soviet Union. It presents a realistic portrait of life at the CIA headquarters in Virginia.

Marchetti discusses the CIA's role in foreign and domestic affairs, and what it is like to work in the organization.

Article Two of the Genocide Convention defines genocide in these terms:
