Situation on Hasakah [3/2/2026]: MOI security forces entered the city of Qamishli as part of the agreement with the SDF. During the event, the SDF had to deal with terrorist cells and STG sympathisers, as they had done in Hasakah the previous day.
With the implementation of the first phase of the agreement between the SDF and Damascus, we can say that the AANES project has officially ceased to exist. The result is that, for the first time since 2012, one side directly or indirectly controls more than 90% of Syria's national territory, as well as the main resources for economic recovery and reconstruction of the country after 15 years of fighting.
On the other hand, the events of January 2026 represent a defeat for the Israeli model of balkanisation of Syria through the support of minorities as dissident forces in favour of its interests, giving victory to the Sunni axis supported by Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which is replacing the Shiite Crescent led by Iran a few years ago and which is now in decline.

The Syrian civil war, as such, is coming to an end. Situation on Blue Nile front: The Ethiopian and South Sudanese borders have seen increased fighting in the last two weeks. On 25 January, the SPLM/RSF joint force launched an attack from Ulu towards Malken, which was repelled by the SAF. However, rebel forces organised a new attack on 3 February after gathering forces in Yabus across the border with Ethiopia. On 4 February, the SPLM/RSF took a series of positions north of Yabus in the direction of Kurmuk, including Deim Mansour Camp, until they were repelled by government forces at Khor Arbodi Camp.
