Most people don’t realise how widespread halal meat has become in the UK.
Because of weak labelling laws, many of us are eating it without even knowing. There’s often no clear label and no transparency.
Under UK law, animals must normally be stunned before slaughter for welfare reasons.
But there is a religious exemption allowing non-stun slaughter for halal and kosher meat, intended so Muslims and Jews can follow their dietary rules.
So here’s the question. 🙋♂️
If the exemption exists for religious consumption, why do estimates suggest halal meat production in Britain is around four times higher than the Muslim population would consume?
Where is the rest going?
For many people this isn’t about attacking anyone.
It’s about consumer choice and transparency.
People should have the right to know what they’re eating.

A young girl was attacked by her own family simply for not wearing a burqa on social media. That is violence, not religion.
No child and no woman should ever be beaten, threatened, or punished for how they dress or how they express themselves. No one should be forced to cover themselves head to toe out of fear.
Women and girls deserve freedom, safety, and the right to live their lives without coercion or violence anywhere in the world.
This is not about faith this is about control and abuse.
