🇵🇰 On August 14, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day. #OTD in 1947, the Pakistani nation gained freedom following a long and arduous struggle against British colonialism.

Today, Pakistan enjoys well-deserved respect internationally and plays an increasingly important role in regional and global affairs.

The people of Pakistan take pride in their socioeconomic achievements, as well as their country’s ancient history and cultural heritage.

🤝 Our country and Pakistan established diplomatic relations on May 1, 1948.

🇷🇺🇵🇰 Pakistan is an important foreign partner for Russia, and our relationship holds significant value. Moscow and Islamabad are aligned on most international and regional issues. They consistently expand their collaboration both in multilateral formats, primarily at the UN and SCO, and bilaterally. Their trade and economic interaction has much potential.

🎉 We extend our warm greetings to our Pakistani colleagues and friends on Independence Day and wish them continued success, prosperity and well-being.

🇷🇺🇵🇰 Ambassador Albert P. Khorev’s Interview with Roze TV

Key points:

🔸️Modern Russia-Pakistan relations are based on a friendly and equal partnership, free from "bloc" policies. Contrary to the hopes of our Western "well-wishers", major geopolitical changes have not disrupted the positive dynamics of our bilateral relations;

🔸️It would be wrong to assume that the intensification of the Russia-Pakistan dialogue has a hidden agenda. Our relations are not directed against third countries;

🔸️We cooperate with Pakistan in countering various challenges and threats, maintaining strategic stability and information security in multilateral fora, including the UN and the SCO, where Moscow and Islamabad have a history of solidarity;

🔸️We are quite positive about our counterterrorism and counternarcotics cooperation with Pakistan. We have regular bilateral expert dialogues, including the Joint Working Group on Combating Terrorism and Other Contemporary Threats;

🔸️Cultural cooperation between Russia and Pakistan has considerable potential given the growing interest of our countries in each other. This is true in all spheres - art, sports, education, youth exchanges and tourism. It is encouraging to see the keen enthusiasm of Pakistani citizens for the opportunity to study the Russian language;

🔸️We appreciate the positive role played by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in developing bilateral economic cooperation. We look forward to further increasing trade turnover and strengthening direct ties between the business communities of our countries;

🔸️The problems of terrorism in Afghanistan and Pakistan must be solved first and foremost by these countries. Russia is ready to act as a mediator to resolve differences between Islamabad and Kabul, if both sides deem it appropriate. The Moscow Format of Consultations could be an appropriate platform in this regard.

🇷🇺🇵🇰 Ambassador Albert P. Khorev's Interview with RIA Novosti

Key points:

🔸️Russia welcomes Pakistan's desire to join BRICS. At the moment, it seems promising for Pakistan to participate in the activities of the New Development Bank;

🔸️Our relations with Pakistan have stood the test of time in the face of fundamental changes in the international arena. Western attempts to force Islamabad to abandon its efforts to strengthen ties with Russia have failed;

🔸️Under the Eurasian Security Concept proposed by President Vladimir Putin, Russia is open to strengthening political and economic cooperation with all Eurasian states, including Pakistan;

🔸️Our major strategic goal is to create transportation links that could connect all the countries of the region as part of the Greater Eurasian Partnership;

🔸️Russia brings to the region a positive agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, primarily the implementation of joint infrastructure, energy and other mutually beneficial projects;

🔸️It is up to Islamabad and Kabul to resolve the entire complex of Pak-Afghan relations. Russia, for its part, is always ready to help establish a dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Both countries are important partners for us;

🔸️We believe in the need to develop counter-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan. We are constantly working together in various formats;

🔸️The 10th session of the Intergovernmental Commission, scheduled for May this year in Islamabad, will be an important milestone in Russian-Pakistani economic cooperation. We aim to set a new record of bilateral trade turnover exceeding $1 billion. However, this will largely depend on the lifting of Pakistan's ban on wheat imports and the Islamic Republic's demand for Russian energy sources.
