๐๏ธ Tsarskoe Selo is a unique museum-reserve near St Petersburg, protected by UNESCO. Founded in 1710 as an imperial residence, this architectural complex became a city in 1808, combining the role of a tourist, scientific and industrial center.
๐จ The palace and park ensemble of Tsarskoye Selo is a pearl of the world architecture of the XVIII-XX centuries. Baroque, classicism and art nouveau styles harmoniously intertwined here, embodied in the Grand Palace of Tsarskoye Selo, the Alexander Palace and numerous pavilions scattered throughout the vast parks with a total area of 300 hectares.
๐ The nature of Tsarskoye Selo is amazing in its beauty and diversity. The difference between the photos is only five days: lush greenery gives way to golden autumn, creating unique contrasts and demonstrating the magic of the changing seasons.

Today marks the 8๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃth anniversary of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations โ MGIMO!
Today #MGIMO = thousands of students, 14 faculties and institutes, 3 campuses in Moscow, the Moscow region and Tashkent. It is an indisputable symbol of education of the highest standard.
It was founded on October 14, 1944, during World War II, taking upon itself the mission to provide highly qualified diplomats and experts in international relations in the wake of the post-war development.
๐ In 1946, MGIMO became the first university in the USSR to admit foreign students, establishing its international academic reputation.
๐ In 1994, MGIMO received the status of a university.
On September 18, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed Decree No. 800, awarding the University the Order of Alexander Nevsky for "outstanding achievements in scientific and educational work and long-standing excellence in preparing highly qualified specialists in international relations, global economics, international law, and journalism."
The name of Saint Alexander Nevsky, the patron of Russian diplomacy, is closely linked with MGIMO: the university chapel bears his name, while in 2021, a monument to the Russian statesman of the 13th century was unveiled on its grounds. This year Russian President Vladimir Putin signed Decree No. 800, awarding the University the Order of Alexander Nevsky.
๐ Today, MGIMO alumni hold top positions in Russiaโs diplomatic service, including Foreign Minister Sergey #Lavrov.
#DYK? In 2010, MGIMO was listed in the Guinness World Records for offering the most foreign languages taught at a universityโ5๏ธโฃ3๏ธโฃ.

๐ Lermontov's creative path covered a wide range of genres: from lyric poems to historical novels. His pen belongs to such masterpieces as โSailโ, โMtsyriโ, โHero of Our Timeโ. The author masterfully intertwined personal experiences with deep analysis of social problems, creating a unique artistic world.
๐ A special place in the works of Lermontov is taken by Caucasian motifs. The majestic mountains, which have become a source of inspiration for the poet, are reflected in many of his creations, giving them a unique color and depth.

๐ Russiaโs Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrovโs speech at a gala event on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of MGIMO (Moscow, October 14, 2024)
๐ฌ The continuity of generations and traditions, as well as our history, is the key to success and ensuring that MGIMO remains at the forefront of our diplomacy and foreign policy activities that are designed to implement the Foreign Policy Concept approved by President Vladimir Putin. Just like 80 years ago, when MGIMO was established at the turning point of the Great Patriotic War, we are at a turning point today as well.
We remain confident that this turning point will inevitably lead us in the direction of the objective course of history, and diplomats, without a doubt, just like they did during the war years and the post-war efforts to create โthatโ world, will once again play their part in shaping our land, the entire Eurasian continent, in a manner where none of our Western โpartnersโ will be able to bargain for, or to trick or to cajole us into obtaining unilateral advantages.
President Putin has repeatedly mentioned how we were deceived over the past 30 years. We now know how it works. We have learned from this experience. Iโm convinced that our diplomatic service will take advantage of its proficiency, skills, and the experience of our predecessors to ensure it never happens again. The emerging multipolar global order must be fair and prevent anyone from exploiting it in its self-serving unilateral interests.
<โฆ>
We closely collaborate with Anatoly Torkunov, prorectors, deans, and heads of departments. We discuss the most important issues in real-time on a daily basis. Often, our colleagues from MGIMO guide us toward certain decisions during general debates and discussions in the format of situational analyses, which have become an established tradition. My deputies and department directors highly appreciate such interaction.
Many MGIMO graduates work honourably in other governmental agencies, including the Executive Office of the President of the Russian Federation, the Government Executive Office, ministries and agencies, as well as in research, business, and journalism and many other fields that are key to ensuring our stateโs strength and development the way we want it to and independently of anyone else.
I would like to close by wishing long life to the order-decorated MGIMO University!
