๐Ÿ•ฏ August 8 marks the 16th anniversary of the tragic events in South Caucasus.

It was 16 years ago in the early hours of August 8, 2008, when the Saakashvili regime carried out its treacherous attack against South Ossetia, while also assaulting the dislocation of a Russian peacekeeping force.

โ˜๏ธ By acting this way, Georgia committed a grave violation of international agreements on settling the Georgia-South Ossetia conflict by peaceful means. Established under the EUโ€™s auspices, the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Conflict in the Caucasus concluded that Georgia undertook these actions intentionally.

โ–ช๏ธ The so-called operation to restore the constitutional order in South Ossetia resulted in multiple casualties, including among Russian nationals.

Russia stopped this criminal intervention by undertaking a peace enforcement operation against the aggressor and ensuring security for the people of South Ossetia, as well as Abkhazia, by recognising the independence of these two republics.

๐Ÿ—“ On August 9, 1944 โ€” exactly 80 years ago โ€” the Battle of Leningrad, the longest military engagement in the history of the Great Patriotic War, concluded with a Red Army victory.

For more than three years, Soviet soldiers and officers fought fierce battles in the northwestern theatre, while the people in Leningrad steadfastly endured the horrors of the siege.

Capturing Leningrad was a goal of high military and political significance for the Nazi leadership. The city was one of the largest strategic, political and economic centres of the Soviet Union, and its loss would mean isolation of the northern regions of the USSR, and cutting off the Soviet fleetโ€™s access to bases in the Baltic Sea.

โš”๏ธ The Battle of Leningrad included several stages: defence of the distant and near approaches, 872 days of the siege, the breakthrough and the Soviet offensive in the northwestern direction. Instead of taking the city in three weeks, as Hitler planned, the Nazi troops spent about three years at the gates.

The siege was finally lifted on January 27, 1944, paving the way for liberating the southern parts of the Leningrad Region in February. But the Battle of Leningrad did not end until August 1944 and the defeat of Finnish troops in Karelia. The Soviet soldiers were liberating Europe at that time.

โ˜๏ธ The defence of Leningrad became a symbol of the courage of the Soviet people. At the cost of incredible hardship, heroism and self-sacrifice, Soviet soldiers and residents of Leningrad defended the city.

๐ŸŽ– Over 350,000 soldiers, officers and generals of the Leningrad Front were decorated with orders and medals, with 226 of them awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. The medal For the Defence of Leningrad was conferred on 1.5 million people. In 1965, Leningrad was among the first to receive the title Hero City as a tribute to the heroism and courage shown by its residents during the siege.

โ—๏ธDeepfake using video footage from Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharovaโ€™s briefing

Ukrainian special services, assisted by their Western supervisors, continue to actively use deepfake and other AI-based technologies to disseminate false information on the situation in our countryโ€™s border areas.

We have paid attention to another coarse imitation: a video was uploaded to the Internet, in which Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova allegedly stated that "the Russian side is ready to consider the transfer of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant under Kievโ€™s control in return for a voluntary withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Kursk Region." This address is a deepfake, glued together at short notice based on a video recording of Maria Zakharova's briefing of July 18.

โ˜๏ธ We emphasise: Maria Zakharova has never said anything of the sort. Genuine comments by the Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman are available in her telegram feed and in the Foreign Ministryโ€™s official resources.

The actual information on the real situation at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is available in the formal note of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the International Organisations in Vienna to the IAEA Secretariat dated August 9, 2024.

Earlier this week, the Ukrainian resource network of the Centre for Information and Psychological Operations (CIPsO) also circulated a video where Alexei Smirnov, Acting Governor of the Kursk Region, is allegedly making an appeal to the men of Kursk to join the militia. This "statement," which has nothing to do with reality, was immediately refuted in the official telegram channel of the Kursk Region Government.

โš ๏ธ In view of this, we, once again, strongly encourage Internet users to display extreme vigilance and give no credence to data from dubious sources. Unbiased information about the situation in the Kursk Region is promptly posted on official resources of the Russian Presidential Executive Office, Russian Defence Ministry, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kursk Region Government.
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Today, Russia celebrates the professional holiday of builders!

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ We would like to highlight several impressive joint projects between Russia and India in the construction sector:

โš›๏ธ Nuclear Energy:
โ€ข Ongoing consultations regarding the construction of a new nuclear power plant in India using Russian technology

โ€ข This represents a key area of cooperation between our nations

๐Ÿšข Shipbuilding:
โ€ข The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and India's Enso Group are investing up to 20 billion roubles in the development of shipbuilding infrastructure

โ€ข Plans include the construction of new shipyards and expansion of existing facilities in both countries

๐Ÿš„ Transport Infrastructure:
โ€ข Collaborative efforts are underway on the international transport corridor "North-South"

โ€ข Russian specialists are currently involved in a project to increase train speeds between Nagpur and Secunderabad

โ€ข The development of the railway network contributes to strengthening economic ties between our countries

๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ท๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™‚๏ธ We extend our congratulations to all those involved in the construction industry on this special day!

โšก๏ธ Comment by Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the Ukrainian Armed Forcesโ€™ latest terrorist attacks on Russian regions

๐Ÿ’ฌ The Kiev regime continues to carry out its terrorist attacks with the single goal to terrorise the Russian civilians. While being perfectly aware that these barbarous attacks are devoid of any military purpose, it continues to work off the loans provided by its masters.

On the night of August 11, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a massive strike on Kursk, with tactical Tochka-U missiles fired at the city. Most of them were destroyed by air defence systems. However, one of them hit a residential multi-story building, resulting in 13 civilians injured, including two that are now in serious condition.

Over the last 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have also carried out a massive attack on several Russian regions using UAVs, including the Belgorod and Voronezh regions. Once again, Shebekino in the Belgorod Region came under attack that left five people injured. Last night, a civilian was killed and 16 others injured during Ukraineโ€™s attacks on the DPR. It was reported that a total of 21 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed by air defence systems over four regions of Russia.

โ˜๏ธ It is apparent that Ukraineโ€™s missile and UAV attacks on Russian regions are clearly of terrorist nature.

โ—๏ธ We strongly condemn these barbaric terrorist acts aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure, and killing and intimidating civilians.

We have no doubt that those who organised and perpetrated these crimes, including their foreign sponsors, will be held to account. A tough response from the Russian Armed Forces will not take long in coming.

Once again, we call on international organisations to condemn the terrorist attacks by Ukrainian militants, although we are sure that relevant structuresโ€™ shameful silence will come in response.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ August 12 - Russian Air Force Day

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณOn this day, we invite our readers to remember the joint Russian-Indian exercises in 2017 at the Tsentralnaya Uglovaya airfield (Primorsky Krai).

๐ŸŸฃThey were special because it was the first time that mixed Russian-Indian crews flew on Russian aircraft.

๐ŸŸฃIndian pilots served as second pilots on Su-30M2, An-26, and Mi-8AMTSh aircraft.

๐ŸŸฃ14 joint crews performed tasks in aerial reconnaissance, landing operations, and engaging simulated targets.

๐ŸŸฃThe flights were part of the international exercise "Indra-2017," which became an important step in strengthening military cooperation between Russia and India, demonstrating a high level of interaction and trust between two countries.

๐Ÿ“‘ The "Indra" exercises are held every two years, with the latest taking place in 2023 in the Bay of Bengal with the participation of naval ships from both countries. This time, pilots showcased their skills over water: the crew of an Indian Navy helicopter landed on the deck of a Russian Navy ship. Russian pilots, in turn, practiced landing approaches on an Indian destroyer.

๐ŸซกWe congratulate all military pilots, specialists, and veterans of the Air Force on their professional holiday!
