📆 On June 6, #RussianLanguageDay is celebrated in Russia and across the globe.

📝 #OTD, 225 years ago, in 1799, the greatest poet, writer, publicist, creator of the modern Russian literary language, Alexander Pushkin, was born.

🇷🇺🇺🇳 In Russia, the holiday was established by the Presidential decree of June 6, 2011, while at the international level it was proclaimed by the UN Department of Public Information (current Department of Global Communications) in 2010 as part of the programme for recognition of multilingualism and cultural diversity.

✍️ On the occasion of #RussianLanguageDay and the 225th birth anniversary of Alexander Pushkin, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made a congratulatory address, in which he underscored the significance of the Russian language in the world and expressed gratitude to public figures and Russian compatriots living abroad for their contribution to the preservation and promotion of the Russian language.

🇷🇺 🤝 🇮🇳 On May 20-27, students of the Delhi Public School, Dwarka visited Moscow School no.1409 as part of the ongoing programme ‘BRICS People Choosing Life’ and ‘Creation of Tolstoy – Gandhi Center’ which was initiated on December 13, 2022. The two schools signed an MOU on educational and cultural exchanges.
 
👥 The delegation of the DPS Dwarka included School’s Principal Priya Narayan, Russian Language Teacher Monika Sharma and 19 students, and was warmly received by the Moscow’s School’s Principal Irina Ilicheva, Vice Principal Svetlana Zuckerman and its students.

During the programme, the Indian students actively participated in various creative workshops, sports competitions, computer and bio lab demonstrations.

They were also received by Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar at the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
 
📸 As part of the cultural programme, they visited the Tolstoy Museum, the largest scientific and educational center for the study of the artistic heritage of Leo Tolstoy in Moscow, the All-Russian Exhibition Center, the Red Square and other popular attractions.

👩‍🎨 On June 5, the Russian House in New Delhi hosted the opening of an exhibition “Call of the Soul” by artist and activist of the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots Klera Singh that was dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin.

🎨 It included more than 40 works in which the artist conveys the extraordinary beauty of the nature and culture of India and its people.

👥 Among the visitors were Indian cultural figures, diplomats, compatriots, and students of local art universities.

📚 On June 6, on the occasion of the #RussianLanguageDay and the 225th birth anniversary of Alexander Pushkin, representatives of the Russian Embassy in India, the Russian House in New Delhi, the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots, Russian philologists and students studying Russian at the Delhi universities laid flowers at the poet's monument located in the center of the Indian capital.

👥 On this day, the Russian House in New Delhi also hosted the Pushkin Readings, in which over 50 admireres of the great Russian poet took part. Among them were Prof Neelakshi Suryanarayan, Prof Abhai Maurya, Dr Sonu Saini, Prof Meeta Narain, Assoc Prof Meenu Bhatnagar, Asst Prof Anju Rani.

📝 Participants of the event read the works of the classic in Russian, English and Hindi. An award ceremony took place to award the most active students of Russian language courses at the Russian House. There was also a quiz on knowledge of the work of Alexander Pushkin.
