🎨On December 7, 1764, Empress Catherine II created a painting gallery in the Winter Palace and acquired for her a collection of paintings by Dutch and Flemish masters.
This event became the starting point in the history of one of the largest and most famous museums in the world - the Hermitage.

🇷🇺Russian sportsmen won gold at the World Short Course Swimming Championship
🥇Miron Lifintsev won gold at the World Swimming Championship in the 100m backstroke. He didn’t only bring gold to the national team but set a new youth world record covering the distance in 48.76 seconds.
🏊♀️🥇Russian swimmers also won gold medals in the 4x50m medley relay. Kirill Prigoda, Arina Surkova, Daria Trofimova and Miron Lifintsev competed in the final swim.
🏊♂️The competition was held in Budapest where Russians were allowed to participate under the auspices of the International Swimming Federation for the first time after the exemption.
🏆We congratulate our team and wish them new victories on the world stage.
