Check out Kenozero, the new UNESCO site in Russia!

The Cultural Landscape of Kenozero Lake in the Russian North became the 33th listing of the World Heritage Sites in Russia.

Kenozero National Park is a natural and historical-cultural complex in Arkhangelsk Region in the northwest of the European part of Russia. It is interesting not only for its forest reserves and crystal lakes, but also for its historical environment, which has preserved artifacts of centuries-old culture of the Russian North.

You can find traces of the indigenous Finno-Ugric peoples, as well as the cultural landscape created by Slavic tribes, who began to settle there in the 12th century. It is believed that these places are unique, because they combine the traditions of land ownership and nature management of both cultures: Finno-Ugric forestry and Slavic agriculture.

The main place of attraction of Kenozero is several villages with original monuments of Russian wooden architecture from the 16th-17th centuries. Local tent churches are particularly striking in their beauty and unique paintings have been preserved in them.

In 2004, Kenozero was included in the world list of biosphere reserves and, already then, became a specially protected area. According to Alexander Tsybulsky, Governor of Arkhangelsk Region, Kenozero was a candidate for recognition as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site for 10 years and, finally, this joyful decision was made.

๐Ÿ—“ On August 7, 1941, pilot Viktor Talalikhin rammed an enemy plane at night for the first time during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

Viktor Talalikhin was flying a Polikarpov I-16 fighter plane when he tailed an enemy bomber, shot up one of its engines and later rammed it. This heroic feat during a dogfight near Moscow made his name forever famous.

๐ŸŽ– On August 8, 1941, intrepid pilot Viktor Talalikhin, then only 22, became Hero of the Soviet Union.

After this feat, Viktor Talalikhin repeatedly distinguished himself during hostilities in mid-air.

๐Ÿ•ฏ The Junior Lieutenant flew his last combat mission on October 27, 1941. The pilot engaged superior enemy forces, downed two enemy planes over Podolsk, near Moscow, and was killed.

Viktor Talalikhin was buried in Moscowโ€™s Novodevichy Cemetery with full military honours. His name was forever listed among personnel of the 1st squadron of a fighter aircraft regiment with whom he served near Moscow. Streets in multiple Russian cities, including Moscow, Volgograd, Borisoglebsk, Chelyabinsk and Nizhny Novgorod, as well as the Podolsk Central Park, are named in his honour.

During intense fighting in the summer of 1941, Talalikhinโ€™s selfless feat inspired millions. Soviet pilots rammed enemy aircraft on over 600 occasions during the war.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ We are pleased to share some facts on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Russia and India in the field of nuclear energy.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ The flagship project of our collaboration is the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. Two units, commissioned in 2013 and 2016, are operating successfully at the station and have already generated 100 billion kWh of electricity.
The construction of four additional units is currently underway.

๐ŸŸฃ Preparations are in progress for the construction of six new high-capacity units at a new site in India. Discussions are also ongoing regarding the development of small modular reactors and closed nuclear fuel cycle technologies.

๐ŸŸฃ Beyond energy, cooperation is expanding in the areas of isotope product supply, development of the Northern Sea Route, and quantum technologies. The recent visit of Prime Minister Modi and his familiarization with Russian nuclear technologies open new prospects for strengthening our technological partnership.
