🇷🇺💬 Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov's interview with the "India's World" magazine (February 24, 2025)

Key theses:

#Ukraine #NATO

🔹 It is ultimately recognised, even among Kiev’s most ardent cheerleaders, that Ukraine does not and could not prevail. Zelensky himself recently admitted that, without US support, he had a low chance of survival.

🔹 Despite massive financial support, Ukraine is broke and overwhelmingly dependent upon its NATO sponsors for military hardware and ammunition.

🔹 It is high time the international community pressed NATO and Ukraine to bring about a peaceful solution, for this will never happen otherwise. Now, Kiev has put itself in an impossible position and has no other option but to stop the hostilities.

🔹 President Vladimir Putin has, on numerous occasions, outlined the basis for a peaceful settlement, which includes recognition of the new territorial realities and the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Russian regions of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Lugansk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson Oblasts.

🔹 It is also necessary to ensure Ukraine’s neutral, demilitarised, and denazified status, as well as to safeguard the rights, freedoms, and interests of its Russian-speaking citizens.

#Sanctions

🔹 Apart from undermining the international legal regime, the Western countries hurt themselves badly by disrupting mutually beneficial ties with Russia and seeking to damage other countries by threatening the imposition of secondary sanctions on those who trade with Russia.

#RussiaUS

🔹 Now that President Trump has declared his intention to seek a diplomatic solution, the prospects of achieving peace are becoming more tangible. The establishment of direct contacts between Russia and the US is a welcome development.

#RussiaIndia

🔹 India’s voice is certainly important — especially because India is a long-time friend, and its outreach to Russia is motivated by noble goals. Russia appreciates New Delhi’s principled and balanced position on the Ukraine conflict, and its efforts to create a favourable atmosphere are conducive to finding a peaceful solution.

🔹 This year, we commemorate the 25th anniversary of a very fruitful and consequential Russia-India special and privileged strategic partnership. Its growth is rooted in the rich history of bilateral ties and reflects the shared interests of our two countries.

#RIC

🔹 it is advisable to focus on the points of convergence shared among Russia, India, and China. They can establish a foundation for a positive and forward-looking relationship that benefits us and the world at large. <...> A step in the right direction would be to resume meetings in the trilateral Russia-India-China dialogue format.
