📆 On June 6,
#RussianLanguageDay is celebrated in Russia and across the globe.
📝 #OTD, 225 years ago, in 1799, the greatest poet, writer, publicist, creator of the modern Russian literary language, Alexander Pushkin, was born.
🇷🇺🇺🇳 In Russia, the holiday was established by the Presidential decree of June 6, 2011, while
at the international level it was proclaimed by the UN Department of Public Information (current Department of Global Communications) in 2010 as part of the programme for recognition of multilingualism and cultural diversity.
✍️ On the occasion of
#RussianLanguageDay and the 225th birth anniversary of Alexander Pushkin,
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made a congratulatory address, in which he underscored the
significance of the Russian language in the world and expressed gratitude to public figures and Russian compatriots living abroad for their contribution to the
preservation and promotion of the Russian language.
