๐Ÿ“… On September 10, the two-day #G20 Summit came to a close in New Delhi, India. Under instructions from President of Russia Vladimir Putin, the Russian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Members of the G20 reached consensus on a final declaration for the summit. It reflects agreements on a wide range of current issues and actions, including food, climate, energy, the necessity of reforming international financial institutions, digital transformation, and macroeconomic policy. The specific goals, set in the interests of the countries in the Global South, were an important achievement.

<...>

โ—๏ธ The decision to include the African Union among the permanent members of the G20 was historical.

The Russian delegation, along with the #BRICS countries and other friendly partners, consistently advocated de-politicising discussions and maintaining the G20โ€™s focus on countering todayโ€™s socioeconomic challenges, primarily on overcoming poverty, inequality, and the weakening of food and energy security under the influence of Western policies and the illegitimate unilateral sanctions. Together we suppressed the Westโ€™s attempts to โ€œUkrainiseโ€ the work of the G20 format, and noted numerous armed conflicts on the planet as well as calls for peaceful resolutions through dialogue and diplomatic efforts based on the full goals and principles of the UN Charter.

<...>

๐Ÿค We will continue close cooperation with the Indian presidency of the G20 in the context of implementing New Delhiโ€™s announced intention to hold an additional meeting of the G20 leaders via videoconference this November. We also count on productive coordination with Brazil and South Africa, who will assume the G20 presidency in 2024 and 2025, respectively; we are ready to implement relevant special initiatives with them, including those based on domestic experience and potential achievements.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ On December 27, 2023, negotiations between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar will be held in Moscow.

The Ministers will focus on the current and future areas of bilateral cooperation as well as discussion of the schedule of upcoming contacts.

โšก๏ธ The main emphasis will be made on promoting the further building of sustainable transport, logistics and banking and financial chains, expanding the use of national currencies in mutual settlements. It is planned to touch upon issues of cooperation in high-tech areas, including space and nuclear ones, as well as the implementation of joint projects for the development of hydrocarbons on the Arctic shelf and in the Russian Far East.

The Ministers will compare notes on current international matters. The topic of interaction within the #UN, #SCO and #G20 will be discussed separately, as also the priorities of Russia's #BRICS chairmanship in the coming year. An in-depth exchange of views is expected on the issues of forming a fair security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region, the situation in Ukraine and Afghanistan, as well as the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation.

โšก๏ธ Moscow and New Delhi are committed to multipolarity as an integral factor in ensuring the balance of the world order that has emerged over the recent decades. Russia supports countries of the Global South in upholding political and economic sovereignty amid the spread of neocolonial practices. The priority is to promote a positive agenda and build constructive interstate dialogue.
