⚡️ Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation:

The West is once again staging anti-Russian provocations

The Press Bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR) reports that, according to information received by the SVR, an intelligence service of one Western country, in coordination with its Ukrainian proxies, intends to stage yet another anti-Russian spectacle.

This time, the spectacle is set in Latin America, with a storyline straight out of a third-rate narco crime drama.

❗️ The plan is to accuse Russia of illegally supplying weapons to drug cartels and other organised criminal groups in Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico.

To this end, Russian-made weapons captured by the enemy during the special military operation are already being brought into these countries. Meanwhile, fabricated audio and video materials are being produced as bogus “evidence” of Russians allegedly supplying weapons to Latin American recipients through intermediaries.

To lend the story greater credibility, the fake “evidence” is expected to be supplemented with forged documents allegedly linking members of the Russian Armed Forces to the “scheme”.

The masterminds behind the provocation naively hope that this will undermine Russia’s constructive relations with countries in the region and pressure Latin American governments into supporting the West’s anti-Russian course.

👉 In reality, the Russophobes will only succeed in once again revealing their complete lack of moral restraint and their reliance on the same outdated playbook.

***

From the very outset of the Ukrainian conflict, the information war waged by Euro-Atlantic elites against Russia has relied on fabricating and amplifying the vilest narratives, with utter disregard for morality and the law.

The Bucha hoax staged in April 2022, which was then used to further escalate the confrontation in Ukraine, is a glaring example. However, such operations are hardly a new invention of Western intelligence services – they have long been firmly embedded in their playbook.

Suffice it to recall that World War II began after the Gleiwitz provocation of August 31, 1939, when SS men dressed in Polish uniforms attacked a radio station in the German border town of Gleiwitz.

☝️ The subsequent course of history, however, showed that the price of such staged provocations can prove extremely high above all for those who organise them.

💬 Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova:

On August 17, with the assistance of the Office of the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights, a 14-year-old girl has returned to Russia. Born in Moscow, she later moved to Ukraine to live with her grandmother. Her mother continued to visit her, and the two remained in close contact.

After the start of the special military operation, the mother was unable to bring her daughter back on her own and turned to the International Committee of the Red Cross for assistance. The ICRC then contacted our office, and following a complex process of coordination and arrangements, the girl was finally able to return home.

The Children’s Rights Commissioners are carrying out this humanitarian work to reunite families on the instructions of President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

We are particularly grateful to First Lady of the US Melania Trump for her active involvement in efforts to reunite children with their families.

☝️ To date, with the participation of the Children’s Rights Commissioners, 32 children from 24 families have been reunited with relatives in Russia, while 145 children from 118 families have been reunited with relatives in Ukraine and third countries.

🤝 With the support of Melania Trump, 34 children have been reunited with their loved ones in Russia, Ukraine and third countries.

⚡️ Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik:

💬 Throughout the past week, Kiev’s armed groups continued to escalate their terrorist attacks against civilians. On average, around 60 civilians were injured and 10 killed every day in Ukrainian attacks.

▪️ The total number of civilian casualties over the seven-day period reached 475.

Civilian infrastructure, medical facilities, ambulances and emergency medical crews, passenger trains and logistics centres were deliberately targeted.

The gravest consequences in terms of casualties were recorded in the Republic of Tatarstan, where the main strikes hit the industrial zone and residential areas of Nizhnekamsk.

The highest numbers of civilian casualties resulting from Kiev’s attacks were recorded in the Belgorod Region, Republic of Tatarstan, DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions.

On August 10-16, Ukrainian Nazi attacks resulted in 475 civilian casualties: 406 people were injured, including 16 children, while 69 people were killed, including 3 children.

Over the seven-day period
, Ukrainian militants fired at least 7,264 munitions at civilian sites on Russian territory.

⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement on the disruption of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s visit to the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant and Energodar (August 18, 2026)

💬 We express our deep concern over the aggressive and malicious actions of the Kiev regime, which continues its provocations against the Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP), practically on a daily basis attacking the plant and its personnel and creating a real threat of a nuclear disaster in the heart of Europe.

Another reckless step was Ukraine’s decision to disrupt the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s planned August 20-21 visit to the #ZNPP and the nuclear workers’ city of Energodar, which was to coincide with another rotation of IAEA Secretariat experts at the plant.

All the details had been worked out in advance by the IAEA Secretariat and the Russian Side. We provided the necessary security guarantees, which fully satisfied the Agency.

👉 However, Kiev cynically threatened the IAEA Director General, explicitly stating that it could not guarantee his safety if he travelled to the ZNPP via Russian territory.

We regard this as yet another act of self-exposure by the Kiev regime. It makes no secret of its criminal intentions toward the leadership of one of the world’s largest international organisations, effectively turning its head into a target.

Under such circumstances, Rafael Grossi was understandably forced to cancel his visit.

It is clear that, given the circumstances, the Agency has no choice but to finally acknowledge that the threats to the ZNPP originate precisely from Ukraine, as the Russian Side has been saying for several years.

Kiev has previously repeatedly disrupted rotations at the ZNPP, violated ceasefire arrangements established to enable repair work at energy infrastructure facilities directly affecting the plant’s safe operation, and even carried out strikes against vehicles transporting representatives of the IAEA Secretariat.

Kiev’s crimes continue unabated. On the morning of August 18, a strike targeted a public transport stop in Energodar. One person was killed and 15 were injured.

All this would be impossible without the constant political support that Western countries continue to provide to Zelensky and his gang, driven mad by a sense of impunity. This only encourages the Kiev regime to embark on ever more reckless ventures and create nuclear security threats that could have disastrous consequences for the entire world.

❗️ All those who continue to turn a blind eye to these actions by Ukraine, while supporting the Zelensky regime materially and politically, are complicit in its actions and share responsibility for the crimes it commits.

☢️ Zaporozhskaya Nuclear Power Plant (#ZNPP):

On August 18, Ukrainian militants carried out a deliberate strike on a staff transport stop in Energodar, where employees of the ZNPP were waiting for a bus to take them to work.

▪️ The attack resulted in 17 casualties, most of them ZNPP employees. One nuclear plant worker was killed. Three of the injured are in moderate condition. All those injured are receiving the necessary medical care.

This crosses every line.

Those targeted were civilians. They were not involved in the fighting or taking part in hostilities. They were simply on their way to work – to carry out their professional duties and help ensure the safe operation of the nuclear power plant.

A deliberate attack on ZNPP personnel is an attack on the very people responsible for nuclear safety. The safety of the plant, Energodar and the vast surrounding area depends on their work.

The Kiev regime has once again shown that it is prepared to put civilian lives and the safety of a nuclear facility at risk.

❗️ Nuclear plant workers must never be made targets. Under any circumstances.

Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organisations Kirill Logvinov:

▪️ On August 19, 2003, a bomb attack on a hotel in Baghdad killed 22 humanitarian workers, including UN Special Representative for Iraq Sergio Vieira de Mello.

The unprecedented attack on people carrying out their duty to save the lives of others left a deep mark far beyond the professional humanitarian community.

To raise public awareness of humanitarian assistance, the importance of multilateral cooperation in this field and the inviolability of humanitarian ideals, in 2008 the UN General Assembly, by Resolution 63/139, proclaimed August 19 World Humanitarian Day.

More than 250 million people worldwide are in need of assistance. The broad capabilities of the UN’s humanitarian system are mobilised to help meet at least part of these needs.

🇷🇺 Russia is an active participant in humanitarian operations. The expertise and experience of Russian search-and-rescue teams are widely sought in responding to natural disasters and rescuing those affected, while Russian medical teams rapidly deploy mobile hospitals on the ground.

#RussiaHelps

🤝 Since the beginning of 2026 alone, Russian humanitarian supplies have been delivered to Burkina Faso, Venezuela, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Mali, Palestine, Tajikistan and Cuba.

These efforts have been carried out both bilaterally and through specialised international organisations, including the #UN system and our key partner, the World Food Programme. Regional authorities and Russian NGOs also play an important role in our humanitarian efforts.

Russia provides assistance to third countries with the consent of and in close coordination with the governments of recipient states, and in accordance with the core principles of humanitarian response – neutrality, humanity, impartiality and independence. These principles are enshrined in UN General Assembly Resolution 46/182.

We consistently uphold their inviolability at the UN and oppose attempts by the global minority to turn humanitarian assistance into an instrument of political pressure and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
The Embassy took note of the comments on the Ukraine conflict made by Australia’s former Ambassador to Russia, Peter Tesch, during his appearance on ABC TV on 20 August.

Unfortunately, Mr Tesch chose to omit several important facts essential for understanding the origins and development of the situation.

First, he failed to mention that the roots of the conflict lie in the policies of the neo-Nazi Kiev regime, assisted and propped up by the West. After the illegal and immoral coup d’état in 2014, the new Ukrainian authorities legitimised Nazi ideology and practices, glorified war criminals responsible for the deaths of thousands of Jews, Poles, Russians, Belarussians and Ukrainians during World War II. Ignoring the rights and interests of the Russian-speaking population, they started the systematic destruction of every element of Russian identity – language, religion, culture, monuments. To stay in power, they resorted to military force, killing thousands of their own citizens in Donbass, whom they proclaimed “species”.

Second, the fact that the Kiev regime is deeply corrupt, with members of the political elite using hundreds of billions of dollars of Western taxpayers’ money provided to Ukraine to enrich themselves. Hence, they have every incentive to prolong the conflict, which makes Ukraine’s statements about its commitment to peace negotiations mere propaganda.

Third, Ukrainian attacks against non-military installations and residential areas in Russia, inflicting civilian casualties, with the tragic events in Starobelsk being among the most recent examples. Such actions are driven by Ukraine’s failures on the battlefield, which Mr Tesch also preferred not to mention.

❗️Hard as it may be for Mr Tesch and the ABC to embrace the harsh truth, the Australian public should not be kept in the dark about the true nature of the neo-Nazi Kiev regime and its actions.

🎙 Statement by President of Russia Vladimir Putin at a meeting on the development of nuclear energy (August 20, 2026)

💬 Vladimir Putin: Today marks the 81st anniversary of Russia’s nuclear industry. I would like to congratulate all veterans and employees of the sector on this significant occasion.

I would add that from the very first days of the nuclear project, alongside defence-related objectives, great emphasis was placed on the peaceful use of nuclear energy – in power generation, transport and other areas.

Today, nuclear energy – with its powerful concentration of science, technology, advanced materials, cutting-edge industrial and construction solutions, as well as unique professionals – is, without exaggeration, a source of pride for our country.

Russia is perhaps the only country in the world with expertise across the entire nuclear energy chain, while maintaining traditionally high standards of safety and reliability at its nuclear power plants.

These competitive advantages enable us to maintain leading positions in the global market for the construction of nuclear power plants abroad.

☝️ Rosatom’s current export portfolio includes 28 power units in countries around the world.

***

It is important to ensure technological readiness for the design and construction of both large and small nuclear power plants, and to have a range of standardised power units that can be produced serially, essentially on an assembly-line basis.

Competition in the global nuclear energy sector is intense, and we must strengthen our technological leadership in this field, continuously improve the safety of nuclear power generation and enhance its economic efficiency.

Russia possesses the most advanced technologies for a closed nuclear fuel cycle, which makes it possible to reuse nuclear fuel multiple times. We must ensure the broad deployment of such technological solutions.

💬 Russia's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:

▪️ Four years ago, on August 20, political analyst, philosopher, military correspondent, Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda host, Tsargrad Media correspondent Daria Dugina was killed in a treacherous terrorist attack carried out by the Ukrainian special services.

Daria’s life became a symbol of selfless and devoted service to the Motherland. A true patriot, she was deeply devoted to Russia and the Orthodox faith, steadfast in her convictions and unafraid to express them openly.

Her tragic death caused immense pain to millions of people in Russia and beyond.

The neo-Nazi perpetrators succeeded in taking Daria’s life, but they will never succeed in consigning her legacy to oblivion. Her legacy lives on through books, initiatives and monuments dedicated to her memory.

The reaction of international organisations to this crime was particularly telling. Against the backdrop of widespread public outrage over the murder, the deafening silence of relevant multilateral institutions, including UNESCO and the OSCE, exposed their inability to take a principled stand on crimes against Russian journalists and media professionals.

Through their silence, they have effectively made themselves accomplices in the gruesome crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis, who have launched a targeted campaign against representatives of the Russian media and continue seeking to eradicate any manifestation of dissent.

❗️ The crimes against Daria Dugina and other Russian journalists have #NoStatuteOfLimitations. Those responsible will inevitably face punishment.
