We’re Outside Digital - a nimble crew of builders crafting sharp, data-heavy apps for industries like agtech, robotics, and logistics. We’re on the lookout for a Backend Developer who knows their way around Node.js and Kafka, and loves shipping clean, thoughtful products.

Location: remote, ±4 hours of PST
Employment Type: full-time
Salary: up to 5000$ gross

What you’ll do:

- Build and scale backend systems that power critical product features and real-world automation

- Optimize data pipelines to handle high-throughput geospatial + sensor data from vehicles and field devices

- Improve scalability and reduce latency in distributed, event-driven architectures

- Develop APIs and services that deliver real-time insights to end-users

What we’re looking for:

2+ years building web or mobile app backends (bonus if it’s in geospatial, IOTT, transportation, or fleet monitoring).

Comfortable in fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environments.

Strong with:
- Node.js + TypeScript
- API development
- MongoDB
- SQL (ClickHouse)
- MQTT / Kafka
- WebSockets

A few more things:

- Remote-first, async-friendly, and no micro-managing

- You must live within ±4 hours of Pacific Time (PST) – makes collab way smoother

- We’ll ask for a short test assignment to see how you approach real problems
